You pick and choose when to fight enemies in real time combat which is a breath of fresh air from the traditional RPG format. All your inputs and their accompanying actions are smooth and responsive. The story follows a simple hero's journey throughout a few areas on the continent with dynamic NPCs. This combined with the vibrant art, varied BGMS, lively characters, and seamless transitions create an immersive world.

Would I buy it at full price? No.
While exploration seems encouraged, most areas are heavily restricted by ability upgrades. These abilities are unlocked by proceeding with the story. It is impossible to cheese jumps that seem just in reach, and when you obtain an ability to clear it, your mobility is far too capable for the task. Unfortunately, the same could be said for mob encounters. Every fight scales with your level so there is no point in grinding. Some mobs are situated in unavoidable spots or are simply too tall to pass. The only ways to end combat are winning or having one side fall off the edge of the zone.

This game also lacks complete polish. The map charting updates around you as you explore. For those who like completing maps, this game will constantly taunt you with black squares at the top of every area you check. If you fall into a pit, the stage is reset and the map will oftentimes reset to the last save point. Speaking of saves, there is no confirmation in overwriting saves. I accidentally overwrote a save file after experiencing a quest glitch out. This glitch has not been fixed to this day. Some NPCs also mention characters known only by themselves who never show up.

While this game provides a pleasantly presented package with lots of fun to be had, it also hopes you don't look too hard at its imperfection. Nevertheless, it is quite unique and fun in its own regard. What really kept me hooked was the interactive combat and hopes of exploration. Recommended for teens with a low humour threshold and mind numbed RPG enjoyers.
