I had this game from when the game costed $10 and everything was a jolly time. I play every once in a while but today when I logged in I wasn't allowed to play ranked. Fine, I probably just needed some new xp or something to level up so that I could play BUT this is not the case. Turns out I need to buy a DLC for the game in order to play ranked in ADDITION to the money spent on purchasing the game back in the day. It seems stupid that early backers get nothing and are even required to purchase MORE in order to continue playing ranked. The game has only gotten worse, and I can't recommend this game as it continues to get worse.

Games that peak after release have something right about them. The previous sentence is a statement I would stand behind, it means games as a live service and most importantly, it means that service has been successful in providing an ongoing, and IMPROVING player experience. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is one of the best, if not the very best, example of a game as a live service. After playing thousands of hours, I find myself learning new things about the game, as well as new ways to play. Furthermore, the updates bring improvements in almost every facet of the game, particularly the most recent update, Operation Phantom Sight, has brought a massive overhaul to a map that has turned it from a stale experience to a brand new one. It is updates like this that cause games to continue to live and be celebrated by their players. Furthermore, the ranked experience across all regions, and all ranks, is an overall positive one. I have three accounts in this game, and have gotten ranked anywhere between gold to diamond on all three ranked regions and played on multiple servers across each of those regions. Sure, multiplayer communities tend to be a downside of many games, but that is not the case in this one. Although the occasional troll may ruin the experience, I find muting players to be quick and painless. However, I won't lie and say the game is all sunshine and rainbows. There's a distinct foul taste left in the mouth of players after losing to cheaters. And a finicky MMR rollback system does little to aid the experience. For example, there is no MMR rollback after losing to cheaters in placements, and no details given to players about what games they played that got rolled back. Overall, the game is amazing, but know that in the higher ranks, around plat 1 and diamond, cheaters run rampant and about 20% of the games there will be with cheaters. But for the majority of players, in gold, this is not an issue at all.
