MGSV isn't the endpoint of the Metal Gear timeline. But it is the endpoint of my personal journey through the franchise.
I got into the MGS series with V. I didn't finish it back then, but I highly respected it. After about seven years, I decided to see how it all started by playing the games in order of release.
And now, I've finished V — the last game in the series I've played. It feels like the whole circle is completed.
In terms of gameplay, this is the absolute essence of good TACTICAL ESPIONAGE ACTION. It's a great example of how stealth (and its tools) can be utilized in open-world games.
A game you want to return to. And one day, I will

The game is as good as I am tired of re-equipping my stuff after each 'important' quest

First, I launched the game, and I had to configure all the settings from scratch—every single button individually. Then I saw a garage with six cars (later, I realized you need to be online to access all the cars, but getting online was impossible because the servers were completely dead). I picked a random car and loaded into practice mode, where I discovered that all my axes were inverted, and the steering wheel degrees didn’t match.

I fixed that, then spent about 10 laps fine-tuning the feedback. After all the adjustments, I finally got to a race and was shocked by how dumb the AI was. They didn’t care where I was and spun me out whenever they wanted. They spun me a couple of times when I wasn’t even in their way and was braking in the optimal zone. On the Mountain track—can’t remember the exact name—they completely wrecked themselves on every turn, like I had joined an online lobby. I was just driving and saw cars flying off the track, crashing into each other, or slamming into obstacles.

This was on default settings with 90% AI. I’ll note that in Competizione, I have no complaints about the AI—they respect the racing line, leave space, overtake you cleanly, and crash far less often. So, it’s not like this tech is brand new. 😄

I drove around on different tracks and cars, and then I started noticing my FPS dropping lower and lower. Eventually, I figured I needed to restart since the FPS had dipped to 28. After restarting, I saw there was an update (0.1.1) that added cars without requiring you to be online. I thought, "Cool, now I’ll see more than six cars." I launched the game again, only to experience a crash right after the first intro screen—every single time. No matter what I tried, nothing helped. I gave up and spent two hours on Monza in Competizione.

On the bright side, the feedback is excellent—lots of detail. What you see and feel combine even better, but it takes a lot of time to set up properly. I liked the front-wheel-drive Ford—it gave me some fresh sensations. The graphics seem okay, but it’s hard to notice any major differences.

Oh, and I almost forgot to add: the buttons I assigned for stuff like the pit limiter, windshield wipers, etc. on my wheel, just didn’t work. I have no idea why. 😅

What a great game!
- Wonderfull environmental storytelling which makes cleaning crimescenes interesting
- Main VO actor sounds very good and gives Breaking Bad vibes when commenting different actions and scenes
- Each location has it's own mini puzzle which is interesting to solve (but sometimes it is very unobvious)
- Differnet cleaning tools has it's own purpose pros and cons (except Mop - this one loose in all aspects to powerwash machine)

Things which felt less fun to me:
- "reloading" the water buckets and power wash on the specific places — usually it is far from the scene and feels rudimental. A bit realistic but NOT FUN AT ALL
- core mechanics feels slightly worse then in concurrent PowerWash game. Cleaning "dirty" places looks less smoothly, but don't get me wrong, it still plays decent!
- main story is good, but don't expect something mind blowing, it is fine, but it's not much more than that

I highly reccomend this game, but don't expect too much
