Fun with friends, sometimes glitchy, always hard.

It's rare to find a game that seems to so perfectly create an experience with just some pixels on a monitor.

That game is Rust.

I'll admit it, I didn't like the game at first. After struggling for hours, death after death on a Vanilla server, only to get beaten down time and time again by battle-hardened players I put the game down never to pick it up again. I completely regret ever doing that.

There's something about this game, I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's there. Something about the stark beauty of the wasteland coupled with the savagery of the players. Something about seeing that massive compound in the distance and thinking of ways to raid it. Something about holding that angle for over an hour so your friend can get that perfect flank to grab the AK.

Rust is a cesspit of toxicity. You know it, I know it. This game is a setup for some horrible experiences, especially for solo players. You will spend hours with a pickaxe in hand, getting enough stone for your final base, only for one stray SAR bullet to ruin your day. You will head offline and your base will be wiped down to the foundation when you return. You will be used as target practice by major clans. You will be killed time and time again, and have to start over each time until you can get a base down.

But Rust is also a showcase of some of the best of humanity. Rust is finally doing that raid with your friends, laughing all the while. Rust is staying up all night roaming until you finally get an AK. Rust is charging through a storm of bullets to heal your friend who was ambushed. Rust is giving your base to a fresh spawn for the hell of it. Rust is sitting on the roof of your base with a friend watching the virtual sunrise, or, more realistically, a burning helicopter crashing into the ground below as scattered gunfire pops and sizzles around you.

Rust is the grind. Rust is fighting with your friends to stay alive in an unforgiving wasteland. Rust is a game of brilliant highs, and lows that make you want to throw a fist at the monitor. Rust is killing a naked by accident and putting his gear in a box so he can go back to get it. Rust is spending all night getting enough sulfur for the raid. Rust is rejoicing when you find loot, only to have it all ruined by a naked with nothing but an eoka and a dream.

and I'm not even that good.

Buy Rust.

Got killed by a Hitler skin rapier-spammer 10 seconds after spawning.
10/10 would play again
