Very fun roguelike. Meta progression is limited and mostly sideways. Lots of builds possible.

Short: Good game, addictive gameplay. Time will fly.

Longer: The core gameplay loop differs from DD1, but not as much as other reviews claim. There is no village to upgrade between runs, sure, but instead your meta progression is via the Altar of Hope, which at its core is a similar concept. Combat is redesigned around a token system and works just as well or better. Plenty of valid builds and party compositions to try out.

The game is still hard, but not as much as the first one (beaten on normal difficulty at time of review).

Roguelite Deckbuilder describes this pretty well. There are many different ways to success in this game and it is fun to play around and discover them.

I wanted to like this, but it's really not intuitive and sometimes really hard to understand what the game wants you to do / why you are not progressing. I understand it is supposed to be somewhat micro-intensive, but the microing here felt less like optimizing and more tedious, ultimately leading to the game just not "clicking" for me.

Engrossing and fun despite not much variation in how you play during each playthrough.

Similar to Darkest Dungeon, but stands on its own feet.

Playing this evokes fond memories of classic Diablo. Starts easy, gets very challenging later (particularly if you play hardcore).
