This game was not what I expected and that is a a good thing!

First off, if you plan to play this on Steam Deck/Linux, please be sure to follow the guide on installing the proper fonts. Without them, you will end up without damage numbers in battle. This was fine in the beginning, but I promise you it will be an issue later in the game.

I had heard praise for this game, so I was excited to play it. I am a huge fan of RPGs and am riddled with nostalgia for the classics. When I started playing this, other than the quirky humor, I was not a big fan. I stuck with the game however, and it was absolutely worth sticking with. The story seems pretty weak at first, but gets much better as you go.

I wouldn't call this RPG comfort food, nor would I say it's a must play RPG. If you like RPGs though and have some spare time, it's definitely worth a play.

Despite a status of "Unsupported" this game runs flawlessly on the Steam Deck without tweaks
I used the default proton settings. I ran into no cutscene, graphical, audio, or save glitches.

Now, I am putting this game as "Recommended", but just barely. If you REALLY like TRPGs you might enjoy it. If you aren't a fan of the genre, or can't get this game on a steep discount, I for one wont try to convince you to buy it.

Pros:
* Art is mostly good in my opinion
* Gem system for character building was flexible
* Some of the character skill trees were interesting (but very unbalanced)

Cons:
* The story is an absolute mess. The part about the Lua murdering her sisters' villages, despite being sad about that happening to her is... Weird. Most other reviews mention this.
* Enemies don't really get stronger. Until they spike in strength, but even then, you are probably overpowered.
* Traps are used to artificially inflate the difficulty. They can't be detected. Even if you know where one is, you can't disarm it. There are a ton of them. They inflict either bleed (lasts until you hit 1HP remaining) or poison, which can't be cleansed without using valuable resources. Traps will do way more damage than enemies and be a constant nuisance
*There are a couple of secret characters, but the requirements for getting them are silly (not in a difficult way)

Anyway, it's not a great game, but I did enjoy aspects of it.

This is a faithful collection of a wonderful and longstanding series. Not much has changed from the original gameboy versions of these, but that is OK! An ever slightly changed translation to the games and speed up options are really the only changes. If you're a fan of this series, and want to relive these games, this is well worth the purchase. If you are new to the series, please know these games come from the late 80s and early 90s, so temper your expectations. That being said, these games felt like they held up really well through the ages in my opinion.

This was a fun, quirky-ish, short RPG. I recommend it as a good distraction, but don't get your hopes too high. The story is good enough, and the battles are somewhat stylish. There really isn't anything inherently bad here, and it is clear the devs put their love into this title, it just didn't quite do it for me. It really just feels like something is missing.

If this game looks really interesting, and you want to support the devs, go for it. Otherwise, maybe give it a skip.

Short, fun, goofy. Get it on sale. 2 hours to complete, but worth the ride
