Think Lethal Company, but you have a Garry's Mod phys-gun.

In all seriousness though, having played a decent amount of LC (80 hours at time of review), going into R.E.P.O. I expected to have fun but get bored rather quickly, as I originally thought it would just be the same song and dance as LC. And while it kinda is, I've come out of it with 55 hours so far and no regrets.

The gameplay is, of course, similar to Lethal Company and other games of this genre. Go into place, collect loot, avoid big scary monsters, get out and don't die. But, the aspect of physics manipulation makes this one really unique to me. It felt like a fresh take on collecting loot, and gives the players interesting ways to interact with the enemies (e.g. stunning an enemy and throwing it in a pit.)

Map collection is sparse, but the game is still fairly new and in Early Access (and there's another map active on the Beta branch right now.) But that doesn't mean the maps are boring. I think the maps are spectacularly designed and I don't ever get bored of them, as progressing through the days of your runs introduces completely new generation to compensate for the lack of map variety.

The items and monsters are also fun to play with and around, and everything tends to blend together really well. I don't know how the items/monsters feel in solo as I don't play this game (or any game like it) solo, but everything balances together very well in Co-op.

Overall, great game, plenty of fun to be had here. Definitely play this with friends, I'd say 3-4 is the sweet spot but the game does support up to six players including the host in the lobby, and there's already mods for bigger lobbies if that's something that interests you. 9/10
