In terms of gameplay, this game is acceptable. It comes with baggage, but you can read more reviews if you want more insight into the devs and the development cycle and determine if you want to support said practices, but that is your call.

If you are looking for your next esport, this is not your game. If you are looking for a more casual anime shooter before Hoyolab makes their own version of Valorant within end of the decade, then this might scratch that itch.

If you are used to hyper fast time to kill like in all modern AAA arcade shooters and like that style of multiplayer, then this game is not for you. This game has a deliberately slow TTK, and it does its best to keep it that way. The recoil system is incredibly brutal with strong horizontal recoil, and the 2D system makes it very difficult to hit your enemies and they take reduced damage as well.

The game definitely takes a lot of inspiration from Valorant/Apex/Overwatch with its pick a hero system, character skills, and character ultimates. However, this can lead to very imbalanced teams during more tactical and competitive game modes. Especially since you cannot switch characters during said modes, or even after hitting the confirm button. Once you pick a character, that's it. You're that character for the rest of the match, or until the halftime switch in the Destruction game mode.

The most infurating thing is that there is a faction system when it comes to the Escort and Destruction modes. If you like using Scissor faction characters, then you cannot use them as a Defender. Vice Versa if you're a fan of the PUC faction, as they cannot be used on the Attacker side. So either be very careful about your first character unlocks with the Dream Tokens, or be prepared to only play Team Deathmatch for a long while.

Performance after the UE5 update went absolutely downhill. Constant frame rate issues. Going for the S ranks in the DLC maps is absolutely a nightmare since the AI is not yet ready to handle such large and open maps, even though this is supposed to be a close quarters map pack. Certain maps, like Narcos, have such massive sightlines that it would put the Postal Office map in the base game to shame. Enemy morale has not been hit, in fact it has been emboldened to the point where going non lethal is an absolute slog and you need 1/2 a magazine of pepperballs or multiple bean bags per enemy.

Nobody called me a slur during Search and Destroy because there is no voice chat.
