Very fun game. Good metroidvania. I enjoyed the boss fights tremendously, each one was a joy. The exploration was a lot of fun and the various suits made traversing across the world fun. If I had one complaint it would be that fighting enemies was pointless. You never get stronger by doing so and you always do the same amount of damage no matter what. Otherwise I really enjoyed the game and would highly recommend it to everyone.

This game is very much a love letter to table top 5th Edition Dungeon and Dragon players. It lets you see the dice rolls for ability checks even. The story is top notch, the graphics are awesome, but tend to bug out in the 3rd act towards the end. The voice acting is superb, and the game play itself is very entertaining and fun.

No it's not the original NES version. No it doesn't have the bonus dungeons. Deal with it. This is a great homage to the original game that started it all. It does a lot of things right even if it drops the ball a little bit here and there. It is a little too easy compared to other versions of the game. And some things have been gimped like in the Chaos Shrine you only have to fight the 4 fiends once, even if you leave and come back you don't have to re-fight them like in the original. But all that being said it was a lot of fun playing and going back down memory lane and even more fun doing all the achievements. A definite thumbs up!

This game is a lot of fun. It is kind of like Legend of Zelda/Dragon Quest but with cats. You wonder around fighting monsters in real time, learn magic, and clear out dungeons. It is a lot of fun and well worth the money.

I got this game for free for being a backer on the Kickstarter for Bloodstained: Ritual of the NIght. Honestly I forgot all about the fact they were doing this prequel until they announced it again a mere week before it came out. But I have to say it was a ton of fun to play and it brought back so many childhood memories of old school Castlevania games. It reminded me most of Castlevania 3 where you can have a companion of your choice join you on your adventure.

The graphics are purposefully old school but they don't take away from the game at all. The storyline is very vague. All you really get is you are a demon hunter with a grudge to settle and that's pretty much all you get for the entire game. The controls are easy and the music is great. But just like back in the 80's, that's all you need! Give it a whirl and you won't be disappointed.

This is a hard game to review. Did I like it? Yes. Did it make me cuss and want to throw my controller against the wall? Often. People are calling this game a metroidvania, but I would not. It does have item collecting and the standard going back to the same area many, many, MANY times over again. But this game is HARD. In metroid you get energy containers that allow you to take a substantial amount of damage before dying. You get items that help you kill things in the world that make life easier. Yeah, none of that happens in this game. If you really try hard, the most you will ever be able to get hit before dying is 15 - 16 times, max. 7 - 8 times if you are fighting the last boss.

And as for items, again drawing on our metroid comparison, imagine you are playing metroid and you just found the screw attack, but in order to use it, you can no longer use your morph ball, or freeze beam. You have to choose which one you want to use more. You can switch them out at save points, but if you come up against a metroid, you have to high tail it out of there, back to a save point, unequip the screw attack, and equip your freeze beam again. This will give you some idea of how the item/charm system works in Hollow Knight. There are some insanely awesome charms that will really power up your character, but you only have 11 slots max(if you go through all the hassle of finding them all), and the best charms take a minimum of 3 slots a piece, some take up 4! So you can only equip around 3 or 4 charms at a time! It is a severe handy cap to be sure.

Finally there is the magic system. Some might use the magic in this game, I think I used magic on exactly one boss in the entire game. The only magic I ever used was to heal myself, and it takes a good 1 - 2 seconds to heal. The only other use I ever had for magic was to find secrets by dashing through the floor. But that is my playstyle. I saw lots of videos of others playing the game and using magic all the time, so to each their own.

Now that I've said my piece, this game was fun. The visuals were amazing and a joy to play through. I loved exploring the world. Once I did get powerful, through upgrading my weapon and a few of the more powerful charms, I did not die as much and it was more fun to play. I do think the pacing needed some work, but that is my own thoughts. I loved all the little side quests, finding all the little grubs was so much fun. I do think the story needed work. I played almost 45 hours of the game and still don't understand what happened in this game. I would love to better understand what happened to the world I played through.

So while I would recommend this game to those who want a real challenge, be sure you know what you are getting in to. This is not going to be easy. I still have not gotten the true ending, and I'm not sure I ever will.

What a great game. If you like the Legend of Zelda, you will most likely enjoy this game. The story is quite simple but enjoyable. The gameplay is very fun and familiar. It is a standard sword and shield game with items such as arrows, bombs, and boots that let you jump. Unlike the Legend of Zelda, secrets that can be opened with bombs are not discolored so they can be a little hard to find, but they are usually worth it and result in finding a new piece of a heart container.

The one complaint that I have with this game is the fishing mini-game. Truth be told you can go through the entire game without even once going fishing, but if you do, it is fairly frustrating. While I would highly recommend using a controller for the entire game, for fishing, I would say use the left and right arrow keys, it will make life so much easier. I would absolutely recommend this game to any who enjoy adventure games and who enjoy Zelda games, you won't be disappointed.

I was really surprised with DOOM. I really did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well this game was brought into the 21st century from the 90's especially considering how Doom 3 turned out. If you love being dropped into the middle of fire fights with hordes of enemies then this is the game for you! It is also really fun to try and find all the secrets scattered around everywhere. I would definitely recommend this to any DOOM fan or FPS fan out there.

This game is very fun but HARD. I don't know how anyone could do it with only one life. I myself died over 500 times, although to be fair over 50 of those times were when I made a mistake and did not feel like climbing back up, etc. Poor Ori is not very aerodynamic.

But that being said, this game is seriously fun I took a little over 12 hours to finish the story and then went back to collect some of the items I missed and finish out the skill trees. My one complaint is the three escapes you have to participate in. They are extremely unforgiving, especially the last one. One mistake and you start over. I read on the differences between the original and definitive game that they put in checkpoints on the escape sequences but I sure never found them.

But those three sequences aside, the story is fun and engaging if a bit simple. The scenery is gorgeous and a pleasure to backtrack through. The enemies are repetetive but honestly, what game doesn't have the same enemies over and over? The music is enchanting and a joy to listen to. I really can't say enough good things about it. I bought it on sale when it was half off, but it is well worth the full price. I would recommend it to anyone. It is a platformer, puzzler with a tear-jerker of a story. But be prepared to die. A lot!
