I'm a portrait photographer, so I don't know the first thing about landscapes. Fun sim, but bought just it just to support the dev. I'm sure my landscape photo buddies will love it. XD

Open world survival horror game where you play as a monster hunter tasked with killing a spider train. The player character is tasked with upgrading their own, normal train in order to fight the titular antagonist. A full completionist playthrough will last between three and four hours, for most.

The game is not incredibly hardware intensive: Using an i7-10700F and an Nvidia 1660 Super, I was able to run the game at its highest graphical setting with an average of ~60fps. Lower spec machines would have no trouble running it at a lower setting.

The game is produced by a small indie developer and well worth the price. The developer had/has an ongoing YouTube series documenting the development of this game that is worth a watch, as well.

A wonderful addition to the car building + survival genre. Gameplay is much more forgiving than similar games. The game itself is less resource intensive than similar titles, and runs more smoothly with higher consistent FPS than the competitors.

Mod support is confirmed, in the official Discord, to be coming in the near future as of this writing.

Officially supported mod links are available in the game's Discord.

The developer is very active in the official Discord and is constantly interacting with the fan base, releasing teaser images of future updates; the game is under active development and is seeing regular, major content additions and bug fixes.

If you've played and enjoy similar games to this, I strongly recommend this title as another addition to your Steam library.

The game has made it out of early access. The developer has added many new gameplay features, such as fishing, new vehicles, much more customization, gambling, and more. The game has definitely earned a place among the other big titles in the genre. I've done almost all there is to do on the same save I've had since v0.240, and I feel compelled to start a new, hardcore, permadeath save with all the new content to see it from the eyes of a new player.

I'm very happy for, and proud of, Santa Goat for being able to make it this far with his title, and I'm very thankful to have been able to help him reach his goals along the way. :3

I see great things coming from him in the future, and am very excited to see where things go from here. :D

I've purchased this game for tens of people, at this point. It's the one game I recommend to people the most. It's definitely worth the price tag, and if you enjoy the genre this game belongs to, you won't be disappointed. :3

Having played the original Shelter, I halfway knew what to expect going in: I'm a mother, I have babies, I have to feed them, and there's the potential for them to not survive. Shelter 2 is deeper than that, however. It's a story about motherhood that, in an instant, can let loose a good punch to the feels that will leave you feeling like an emotional train wreck. On the reverse side of the coin, however, you could find a story about a momma lynx that lets you find a deeper level of happiness than you've ever felt before as you watch you kittens turn into full grown adults. It all depends on YOUR actions as a Mom.

Keeping with the original Shelter, the developers have used the same stunning art style, with beautiful music that fits the theme of the game, and a loose storyline that helps to tie it all together. The tactics you use to survive are similar to that of the original, as would be expected.

The first big difference from Shelter 1 -aside from the obvious species change- is that the gameplay has shifted from a linear progression through the levels, to a more open world, with many unique locations to explore and hunt. Additionaly, weather and seasons are far more pronounced and aid the sense of time progression in this new world.

The other major difference is the way in which you must feed your babies. In Shelter 1 you were an omnivorous badger, feeding largely on turnips and carrots, with the occasional frog, rodent, or even fox. Essentially, alot of stationary sources of calories, with the occasional mobile meal. In Shelter 2, however, you are a carnivorous lynx. Gone are the days of walking up to a field of carrots and being set for life; now, you have to work for your food.

Would I recommed this game?

...

If you are the kind of person who enjoys games that poke at your soft, squishy emotions and, at times, take you from an enormous high, to a gut wrenching low, back to that euphoric high, then yes, I would recommend it.
