Life changing. It's crazy to me how chapter 5's are the best in both Higurashi and Umineko. These are the times when Ryukishi had that dawg in him. Also Festivals is one of the best BGM of all time and despite this game having one of the best main casts in history, Shmion is definitely outstanding.

This is such a great Turn-based RPG game.

Beautifully painted world that's visually stunning. The story already set its tone in prologue which was very strong. By each act it kept getting better and better until the finale which was very emotional. I'd say the main course is around 35 hours leisurely. The dialogues between characters were sometimes funny, sometimes dark, really good stuff. The amazing voice acting elevated all of that.

Over 8 hours of original soundtrack. All of the songs made the world more alive appropriately, I'd say it's winning 2025 years soundtrack of the year as it sets the bar very high in my opinion. Also SFX in this game is just chef's kiss, there were few that really blasted my ears, in a good way.

Combat, although having most of the traditional TRPG aspects, is really well thought-off and brings new stuff to the table. It feels very fluid and is very pleasing to watch. The parry/dodge mechanic brings so much fun and anticipation in each character's turn. You could literally turn the tables by just one satisfying parry streak. There were a lot of various enemies and bosses to fight. Some insane boss designs and fights. This game has one of the best boss fights I have ever seen in a video games.

Build variety, is there and I liked it. Tons of weapons, pictos and skills to choose from and combine. On the other hand, I personally didn't have a need to change any of my strategy and played only one team composition that I constantly kept upgrading, almost the entire game. I honestly see that as a plus as I could play characters I liked and wasn't forced to change it due to game's needs.

There's a plenty and I mean plenty of side content this game has to offer. Most of it is challenging but the rewards were always worth it, which surprised me.

Some of the stuff I didn't like was:
the forced up-scaling and lack of FSR,
those classic invisible walls that prevents you from going further. It sometimes made my exploration unpleasant,
cutscenes, while constantly blowing me away by its visuals, sometimes, were really pixelated and blurry (was because of upscaling or just PC issue),
while having a lot of side locations, a lot of them felt just really useless for me to have visited them and just wasted my time (didn't care about discs),
some attacks were just really hard to see for me, but it were mostly projectiles and similar things like that,

Overall thoughts - this game isn't necessarily a masterpiece as it has a few shortcomings, but does it need to be? It doesn't matter if you're an RPG fan or not, I would strongly recommend this game to anyone, it's a must play. I don't think it is GOTY winner, but it definitely wouldn't surprise me and I would be extremely happy to see this game win it, a really strong contender after all.
