All eye candy aside, this is actually really fun to play.

This game is truly something else.

The visuals, the performances, the music, the gameplay. There is simply too much to praise this game for that I can't put into words. All of it carried out by a core team of around 30 individuals, many of whom were complete novices in the field of game development.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is not just an amazing game to play, but it is also such a welcome breath of fresh air in an industry that regularly spends hundreds of millions and years of time delivering nothing but disappointment.

It just shows that if we make the kind of games we want to play, and tell the stories we want to tell, instead of chasing trends and courting audiences that don't exist, the future of video games will never fade away.

I'm glad we have a game like this today, and I have hope for those that come after now.

Last patch appears to have fixed the freezing issues me and my friends were having, as well as several of the bugs with unlocking discoveries.

While it seemed shorter than Cat Quest II, the combat felt better and the dungeons were much more unique and interested instead of feeling like the same thing over and over again.

8/10, all the cat puns.

Following the legacy of a series that had decades of work poured into nearly a dozen games and spinoffs is no easy task. This game seeks to fill a void left behind by a long running fantasy world that has been abandoned by the owners.

At the start of playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes I enjoyed playing a game of spot the comparisons. The tropes, story beats, character archetypes, every similarity between it and the early Suikoden games I could. There are plenty to be found, and as I played I was wondering if the game would actually stand on its own.

By the end of the game, I feel like I've come to appreciate the world more as its own. I'm spending less time focusing on the similarities between the series whose legacy has come to a sad end, and more thinking of the legacy that might be started.

I really hope in another decade we can looking at the Eiyuden Chronicle series as one that grows just as vast and intriguing as its predecessor was. That what we've delved into so far is just a small piece of a bigger world ready to expand wherever the imagination can take it.

If you want a game that has a bevy of the qualities the early Suikoden games offered, I wholeheartedly recommend this for you, and I truly hope Rabbit & Bear Studios continues to explore the world they've introduced us to in the future.

It's like ARK with Pokemon. I sure hope the ARK creators don't get mad.
