Never laughed so hard in a horror game in my life, it also made me jump a few times. I still can't tell if this game was meant to be serious or silly but it was fun.

Really fun and funny 3 or 4 hour game, make sure to play it with some friends. It has lethal company vibes a bit I feel, but it's a more linear sort of story experience which surprised me. But I greatly enjoyed it and the monster designs are really good!

Brutally difficult game while also being scarier than most actual horror games. Kudos to the devs for making something that had me engrossed and engaged with deep gameplay for 7 hours straight on stream when the map is just 5 rooms big.

My only complaint is the rooms are way too dark if the lights are off. But this also adds to the difficulty even more.

I enjoyed this game a lot more than I thought I would. I'm not much a reader, but it kept me on the edge of my seat and I even replayed it trying to find the best ending, which I did in the end.

I think it's worth the price if you enjoy choose your own adventure books or horror stories. Don't expect much visuals-it literally is a virtual book with very few pictures, but the writing was very good to me making it a fun experience even if the story itself was very sad.

Despite recommending this, I must add the caveat that I only recommend it if you have no way to play the original. This is a very fun, very good game, if a bit short. But this remaster has some serious issues in visuals, audio, and opitimization that makes it a pretty jarring downgrade from the original version unfortunately!

Stumbled on Akayashiki while browsing the store and its graphic style really stood out to me. Gave it a try and I think it is pretty good for what it is, though I had some gripes like a couple rooms and things like the piano feeling like complete red herrings maybe there's something I don't know.

A very neat little game if short, worth a couple scares as the killer is genuinely pretty creepy, I'd say it's worth the $3.

I greatly enjoyed this game, I would dare call it one of, if not the best straight-up horror game I've ever played. I don't say this lightly-I've been a horror fan my whole life.

There are some caveats though. If you are someone who gets frustrated when characters die, or the thought that you can't get a 'perfect run' bothers you-you might not enjoy it. Permadeath is a flaunted mechanic, and who lives and dies changes the plot slightly, as well as the content you see in the levels, different characters can be playable if others are dead, on top of different cutscenes happening. Losing characters is part of the experience, and that may make this not for everyone.

The only other "bad" part of this game I would say is that some puzzles are incredibly convoluted. Like to the point where I don't know how you would figure them out without a guide-so have one handy just in case you get stumped and need it.

As long as you keep those two things in mind, and are a horror fan who loves good atmosphere and heart-pumping scares, I believe you will have a good time with this game.

Almost made me cry on stream. Try to play it blind. There's some potentially trauma-triggering lines and moments relating to themes like abusive families, so be prepared if stuff like that bothers you. Overall though, I think this is worth it to play through. It's about 3 hours long.

This is a really awesome game in my opinion!

Pros:
Adorable characters and art style that simulates 90s cartoons.
An interesting story with well written dialogue
Pretty fun combat
Branching paths and sidequests

Cons:
The story is so involved the combat doesn't really get to shine, you don't get to fight too much, though there are times where you can forego doing a puzzle and just fight your way out taking that route tends to be very difficult, so sometimes you'll go over an hour of just dialogue and searching for clues without fighting anything.

That's really my only complaint and it might not bother other people, overall I give this game a 9/10. Though I haven't seen the final chapter yet, I don't think it would alter my score. I'll come back when I see it if it's ruined anything, but I doubt it will.
