I really tried to like this game. Afterall, it does the Star Wars part quite well and I really liked the predecessor. But in the end this game has far too many downsides and not a lot to like.
Gameplay wise its hard to read and quite repetitive. I never had to spend much time looking around in an Uncharted or Tomb Raider to figure out where to go next, but in Jedi Survivor I was lost a lot. Which could be tolerable if those passages wouldn’t make up like a third of the game. In addition, the gating system in the open world feels badly executed. I came across several optional passages that looked doable at first, but after several minutes turned out to be for a later part of the game.
Certain parts of the game feel hastily thrown together without any polish. The Spamel riding for example looks like it’s from a game that is at least 10 years old (seriously, go watch a video of it). There are stretches in the first level on Coruscant that just look so generic that they could be in any video game. Other parts of the game look beautiful and have a really cool vibe, but sadly that’s not always the case.
For me the game was also extremely punishing, but more by accident than by design. Save points are a good bit apart and also rarely conveniently placed. It could easily be that you encounter a bug or a crash after a big fight and you would have to redo not only the fight but also the 5 Minutes you have to spend going there. While I finally managed to fix the crashes by turning off raytracing, I still encountered way to many bugs. I quit after spending close to two hours for 10 minutes of in-game progress just to be hit by another bug.
