I've been playing the demo since the beginning of next fest, and I have to say it's everything I had imagined it to be.
There is just so much I liked about it that I can't name them all, but here are some of them:

* Beautiful hand drawn artwork, very lively environment design.
* Spectacular voice acting and sound design.
* Characters feel unique and have their own identities. Some are more challenging to use than others
* Enemy and boss design is fantastic, they all behave differently, and the game challenges you to learn their patterns and use the appropriate defensive response
* Interesting meta-progression system. You won't be able to access everything on your first run, but things gradually unlock as you explore and learn more about the world and it's story.
* The rituals, inspirations and trinkets mechanics can unlock fun ways to play the game depending on the combination of things you manage to collect. I believe this contributes well towards the games replay value as you likely won't have two runs that will be the same. Sometimes you'll roll really cool combinations of perks and it'll make you OP in a very fun way

Other misc. observations:
* I think that if perks and inspirations were disabled, that the game would still be very playable, and a lot more challenging. In a way they both do empower your character a bit which can make encounters simpler compared to not having them at all. I don't think it's too big of a deal that you don't get to keep them between runs, because the game allows you to unlock passive buffs as you complete runs, so you do get to start a little stronger as you progress. I can imagine there will be a hardcore portion of the player base that would like to be able to disable these for the challenge
* After many runs, the random encounters do start to become a bit more predictable, but I think this is fine. There is a lot of variety with how mobs can spawn, and the game will sometimes throw curveballs at you with harder encounters than what you might be used to.

Great UI design for the post-game screen. The rift progress panel perfectly covers up the chat box; which prevents you from being exposed to the toxic remarks sometimes made by ill mannered players once the match is over.

10/10, because I love my game experiences without sodium

Highly recommended! The base game itself is great, and the developers managed to take that and make it even better with the DLC. Its definitely worth A LOT more than what its priced at. If this was only in arcades, it probably would have made me bleed my wallet dry 😅
