It's one of the better survival horror games in years, but it's NOT a Silent Hill game. Incredible atmosphere, story and sound design. The combat system can be a bit janky at times, though.

If you are a fan of Life Is Strange and/or the works of Stephen King, you'll love this. The pacing in Tape 1 is a bit slow but picks up halfway through. I can't believe that they actually got the Chromatics to reunite in order to make the soundtrack, which I also found to be incredible.

Utter garbage. This game takes everything that was wrong with FF7 Remake and makes it 1000% worse.

- You can't import your progress from FF7R which essentially means that you're starting from near 0 in this second chapter of a "trilogy".

- The battle system is still a mess as the game doesn't know if it wants to be tactical or action and as a consequence fails at both.

- The photorealistic anime art direction is still utterly repulsive and cringy.

- The story is an even bigger and more convoluted mess. This is a multiverse story now, for whatever reason.

- Bloat, bloat, bloat, bloat, bloat and then even more bloat.
- For some reason, we now have a card side game, another upgrade menu, party upgrades, a new crafting system, f'ing Chadley with his explanations every 2 seconds, world map pylons, etc.
- Every interaction is slow and excruciating.
- Way too often the game will shift focus to other characters in their isolated sections, grinding the story to a halt while forcing you to play nonsensical minigames in order to move on to the next minigames.
- Every single animation in this cursed game is waaaaaaaaaaaay longer than it needs to be and there's tons of nonsense e.g. hoovering up mako with huge air pumps.

With all due respect, Tetsuya Nomura should retire and Square anus should put FF7 on ice for at least a decade. There is no need for a third episode in this BS """trilogy""".

8/10

Surprisingly decent reimagining of the original PS2 classic.
The same creepy and depressing atmosphere plus tons of new pants-sh!tt!ng jump scares. Good thing that this is compatible with the Steam Deck which allows you to play from the toilet.

Bloober is Team Silent now. I hope that they're allowed to remake 1, 3, and 4 in the future.

Trash. The bloated corpse of a once great franchise. If I had to give it a score it would be 4/10 tops. I'm legitimately sad to say that this is one of the worst RPG, Final Fantasy and video game that I've ever played.

- They took the introductory part of the original game which was +/- 5 hours long and stretched it into a 40 hour long ordeal.
- They've introduced boring and unskippable sidequests that offer nothing except for padding the game.
- Corridor simulator. The game is mostly on rails.
- The new combat system is now apparently hack and slash but also very limited and repetitive. I don't understand why they couldn't offer the original turn based system as it was, but w/e.
- Everything in this game is actively trying to make you have a seizure: From the game menus that are filled inexplicably with unskippable animations and flashing lights to the "combat system" (and I can't put enough quote marks around that) where it's just a constant d i a r r h e a of light explosion.
- The photorealistic anime graphical style is weird. What's also weird is that the (realistically designed) world is filled with visible and invisible physical barriers that you constantly have to find your way around. This (action) game has no jumping at all, btw.
- The characters are exaggerated caricatures of the originals. Cringe inducing dialogue and voice acting.
- If you thought that all the FF7 spinoffs that they've released over the years crap all over 7's legacy, wait until you experience this abomination. It's so needlessly convoluted that it makes the Kingdom Hearts series' storyline seem sane by comparison.

+ The original music is still top notch.
- However, because they had to get fancy this game is littered with new original pieces that sound like nuts and bolts in a tumble dryer.
