Thoroughly enjoying this game - easily Owlcat's best at-launch play experience. The design team really nailed the atmosphere of 40k - certainly better than the designers of the TTRPG on which this particular entry's setting and mechanics are loosely based. I love that TTRPG, and still play it, and this game is a great way to bring it to the computer experience.

I've seen a handful of players complaining about bugs, something which Owlcat previously has struggled with at launch. I put 50+ hours into the beta release, and didn't run into anything like what other people are describing. Here I am, almost 30 hours into the launch release, and I still haven't encountered any bugs worth mentioning.

Gameplay is very much a mix of standard RPG elements (class, level, XP, etc) with a turn-based action RPG combat system seemingly lifted from XCOM or BattleTech. It's a game of fire, maneuver, and hitting people with swords, while trying not to get eaten by daemons. There's a lot of dense background, lore, and setting information in here for those who want that - and most of it can be skipped if you don't.

Easily the most fun I've had in a 40k game since WH40K Epic in the late '90s. But it's also just a good action RPG. Could I make complaints about some QoL issues in the UI? Yes, I could. I'm not going to, however, because the game is a lot of fun.

For the historical wargaming nerd, there are thousands of hours of replayability in this game, even before considering the mods. Which just means it's a typical Paradox game, still getting new content five years after release.

This game holds up decently. While the graphics are out of date, they aren't so bad as to be unplayable by modern standards, and the storyline and side-quests remain outstanding. A bit of a niche classic, this game is still fun to play today.

This game is very much BattleTech. Most of the rules and concepts underpining the game and its story are lifted from the original Table Top wargame. Sometimes that's good, sometimes that's bad. Having come from a strong BattleTech background, I've been enjoying the hell out of this game. I was not always a big fan of the MechWarrior games, because I enjoy organizing the battle much more than pulling the trigger, and that's how this game plays out -- you need to be able to think ahead before you move your current 'Mech.

While not all the original 3025 'Mechs are in the lineup, enough of them are to keep it feeling like BattleTech.

The game currently (28 April) has a number of bugs, but the worst of them are easy to work around once you know what to expect on particular mission types, so it's possible to make allowances for the game bugs and then they become much less annoying.
