Fells like an early 90s IBM-DOS game, but in all the good ways. I honestly can't explain it, so many games tried to mimic the look and feel of the old games to some degree of success, but most of them lacked something , a '' je ne sais quoi'', and while i won't claim this one is 100% there, it did manage to capture the magic of the old days.
First of all, the game is beautiful, i a very ''dirty'' way, the music is cool, but where it shines is the controls and overall feel of the gameplay, the cars feel right, the tracks feel right and you just find yourself in the zone when playing.
Best of all, this is one of those game that you get better the more you play and upgrades actually makes a difference.
I need to mention this, i grinded the first rally for hours to get money to fully upgrade my car, i must have raced the same 2 courses over 30 tiimes and it was still fun, now this is how u know a good game.
add the good price, the content and the generous release discount, so why are you still reading this, go and buy this game.

what can i say ? i played this game back in the early 90s with EGA graphics and the bleeps and bloops of a built in speaker on my 286 IBM PC with 1mb of ram, later got a sound blaster and it was my first game ever to hear real midi music and SFX, and one night i had a dream, that i played this game in SVGA and it looked glorious.
well, skip ahead 3 decades and i finally got my dream, BIO MENACE in SVGA and widescreen and all the bells and whistles.
A dream come true, a real joy for all old dos gamers like me, now we can only wish to see more remasters like this.
GOOD JOB FOR THE DEV TEAM, bravo.

Simply enjoyable, a way a video game should be, simple, fast , over the top and just plain fun. The game cycle is enjoyable, the grind is fun, the mechanics are sound and best of all, it just feels right, the way the weapons work, the enemies behave and how you have that ''just one go'' feeling all over you.
i admit, it has issues, the fact that you can't quit a run and then resume is weird, i reached floor 50 in one go but had to leave, didn't get a key for that floor, so i had to quit, not fair. The weapons are cool, but a couple more would be nice, mods aren't all useful, and some are so much more helpful and the rng most of the times work against you.
Other than that, i am sure the only issue is the $50 asking price, the only reason i got it was that it costs me around $2.77 , that was a 9 games bundle for $25, so i said ''heck, gonna get a 50% discount on this game and get 8 other games with it ? that is a great deal''.
if this game is $30 and u get it with a discount for around $20 to $25, it would be a great deal, but $50 for such a basic but fun game is too much.
that is why, always check sites, getting this for honestly $2.77 was an insane good deal and i still didn't touch the other 8 games, because i am playing this a lot and happy about it.

We need to talk about this ''sequel''.
When i first played it, i didn't enjoy it, i thought they ruined a good thing with what they changed, after a while, it grew on me, i started to appreciate the change, i started to vibe to the songs and then the game really clicked.
I think they could have done a few things, like chosen another song for the first one, maybe left autolock for missiles, maybe a few more songs but other than that, the game is great.
there is also some really stand out tracks on this, same as the one before, you will notice that you will fall in love with 2 or 4 songs , one of the songs in this game, it has a small area where the music matched the background in a magical way, i can't explain how i start bopping my head to it, that alone is reaoson enough to recommend the game.
i really hope for part 3.
p.s: got the first game for free on a giveaway, enjoyed it, least i could doo i buy the sequel and i did.

honestly good, it has ''that feeling'' , i can't describe it, but people my age who grew up on a ps1 will get it, they nailed it, i don't know how they did it, but it feels ''like home'' in case people can get me, It is a free demo so try it and see, it just feels right, like putting on an old hoodie that u sed to wear in college and find out it still fits, it is still comfy and it smells like the late 90s and early 2000s, this game is that hoodie, it feels warm.

DON'T BE FOOLED BY NEGATIVE REVIEWS, all the bad reviews are coming from so called ''purists'' that somehow thinks these games ''can only be played by light guns''. Then they find out their crappy third rate sub $100 light gun doesn't work or at least not perfectly on these games and go review bomb this beautiful collection.
anw, this is a superb collection, my only problem is the very greedy nature of asking more money for the home ports, when MK LEGACY gives u all the home ports as part of the main and yet, these 4 games asks for money for nes and sms version is kinda crazy, they could have just made the base game like $5 more and gave us all, but hey, it is what it is.
the mouse controls are amazing, the presentation is pure class, the games run and work well, it has all the quality of life u can ask for and best of all, you will have a great time.
i just hope part 2 comes out with even more games, and i hope they do, they have a fan and i want more games.
if u loved these games as a kid, you will adore this, just don't go expecting the world, what is here is good, just grab your mouse and have fun and don't listen to the spoiled brats.

It is amazing, how playing it after many years, even knowing what will happen, even knowing the truth, my mind still managed to trick me in order not to expect an obvious truth. While the first twist got me again, i did all my best to ready, no, to steel myself for the gut wrenching ending, knowing very well that my actions are predetermined and whatever i do, the protagonist will always get the same fate.
Soma, even after all these years, is still a masterclass of story telling, of a soul breaking discovery of what it means to be a human being, nothing on God's green earth can shield you from that unfathomable black hole in your soul that this game will leave you with.
Play it at your own risk, this is one of those few games that will stain you for eternity.
10/10 and i did play it again and got my soul crushed again, now we wait for the spiritual successor.

Not bad but lacks a lot of things, the foundation is pristine, the feel is right, it feels good, plays good but lack of real powerups is jarring.
I enjoyed it but it doesn't feel like a kind of game that you would keep coming back to.
It still does have the ''genesis'' look and feel to it and that is great, music is a strong point, the enemies are great, and most of all, it is enjoyable.
If it had a bit more meat on the bones, it would be so much better, recommended the same way i got it, on an 80% discount for a couple of bucks.

Long story short, i loved it, fan of Doom since the early 90s back when running a 386 with 4mb of ram.
The doom reboot was fascinating, doom 2016 was a good game, Eternal was great also but kinda felt too UnDoom for my taste, but this one ? this one dies one thing right, it makes you feel like you are a boss level threat , something Eternal kinda missed, also less twitchy and this one is far more methodical.
To those says it is easy, to those who says the shield is a bad mechanic, let me remind you of all that eternal put on the table like the flamethrower, the hook and such and no one said anything.
I loved the shield, i loved the parries, i started looking for the green attacks rather than running away from them.
Doom was always about selecting your favorite gun and running with it, the super shotgun, the plasm rifle, same as doom 2, they carried me the whole game.
Loved the exploration, loved the levels, loved the story, i ripped and teared with a smile.
Please note, i got the game on a 50% discount and it was aces.
Highly recommened, it might be the best for me in the new trilogy, i am just sorry i listened to reviews and poeple online, THIS IS DOOM and much DOOM as it ever was.
RIP AND TEAR.
