I find remakes really hard to evaluate as in most situations they can only exist and be talked about in relation to the original. You won't find me or many others calling this game simply Silent Hill 2, it will always be christened "the remake". It also begs the question their purpose if the original games could and should still be enjoyed today. Disregarding Konami's likely cynical shallow intention of making a do-over of a beloved classic for a new audience, I think it's best to approach this game as a reimagining of the original, kind of like a new game+ through an entirely new lens.

Going into this game with that mindset, I was very impressed by the gorgeously detailed environments, combat that is actually really fun while still making sense in the context of the game, and seeing the game's iconic cutscenes remade with more natural acting that surprisingly works really well. What I found myself less impressed by were some moments that definitely hit harder in the original and the overall pacing. Increasing the game's length isn't inherently a bad thing and I'd say some areas such as the apartments really benefited from the expansion, but unfortunately the longer runtime coupled with this game's oppressive atmosphere can make for a hindered experience.

I would definitely still recommend anyone the original over this (in part due to the fact this game is still a ♥♥♥♥♥ to run on most PCs) but I'm relieved Bloober have cooked up a worthwhile iteration.

I could just sit here and give you my obligatory ironic praise review of the legendary Big Rigs, but be warned that this is an incredibly sketchy paid release of a notoriously unplayable game, hastily hacked together with the only real addition being those profile showcase letter slop achievements. No thanks!

Some areas look pretty but unfortunately this is a buggy mess and very derivative of Little Nightmares.

Early Access Review
Very promising extraction game, a lot of fun with friends and just the right balance of silly and scary.

My interest in Snood came about after I stumbled on a copy of Snood 2 for the DS at a flea market and I was struck by how much the game looked like an invention of an irony-addled gen Z mind for a throwaway joke about a fake game. To my surprise, Snood is very much real and has quite a lot of history. This version of the game is remade in Unity by (as far as I can tell) the original dev and charmingly enough it keeps the original 90s shareware model the game grew popular with fully intact.

This is where browser games peaked. About as much care put into this silly concept as humanly possible.
