A family favorite co-op for many years.

Having a great time so far. The roguelite elements blend well with the TD setting, and the polyominoes are implemented well and make pathing more fun. I'm excited to see future content.

Had a blast playing this one both solo and co-op. It is far from perfect, and Gearbox continues to do crappy things, but the game is raw fun with a lot of silly (too much sometimes).

Not perfect, but still a masterpiece.

Ultrawide support would be nice, but I got over it.
Using a wiki is almost a must in order to understand what half the stuff in the game is.
Really wish there was a pause option when playing in offline mode. I used a mod for this.

Update 11/28/2018:
In my original review I mentioned that this software ultimately didn't work out for me because it wasn't keeping up with my moving to various locations with my laptop. I'm happy to say that, after a new try and some additional tweaking, this is actually working out pretty good.

The answer was ultimately, as Keith suggested in his reply to my review, monitor profiles. In my first attempts I had actually set up monitor profiles. They weren't quite working right for me, though. I had trouble with monitors getting erroneously switched to portrait view and other oddities. I started fresh and had some of the same issues. But after going back into the profiles and explicitly stating which monitors should be portrait and which should be landscape, that issue went away.

The other issue I had was the hotkeys for loading profiles weren't working. Turns out this is because I was including the WIN key in the shortcut, and Windows just wasn't letting it register correctly. Removing the WIN key from the shortcut allowed it to work as expected.

In the end this software ended up working out great. Thank you to Keith Lammers and the rest of their support team for helping me work out the tweaks necessary to get this working in my multi-location multi-monitor setups.

Original Review Below:
----------------------------------

This product gets a lot of great reviews; I wish I could be one of them.

I use my laptop at home and at work using mirror setups in both locations. I have the same dual monitors and peripherals at each place, including one monitor that is an ultrawide. Was hoping to use this software to split the ultrawide up as well as have the second monitor vertical with a vertical split.

When I initially set up DisplayFusion it works fantastic. Windows snap to each region perfectly, the taskbars are exactly how I want them, etc. However, when I take my laptop to the other location everything falls apart. I even created completely separate profiles for each location with their own settings (even though they're the same settings). Taskbars randomly disappear and the vertical regions never stay in place at all. I've tried this one two different laptops now and get the same frustrating results.

Conclusion: I do think this is great software if you're using it to split your screens on a device that stays in one location. My experience using this on a laptop I use at work and home has not been good.

Fun Factor: 8/10

Played with the "Megapack", which does feel necessary for a complete experience.

A strategy + tower defense combo that works. It can be as casual or as satisfyingly hard as you want it to be with the range of difficulties included. A variety of soldier and building options and limited resources to build them make all choices important.

A must have for fans of tower defense.

Pros:
  • Variety of soldier and building options
  • Range of difficulty choices to play at your level
  • Lots of missions to play through
  • Story, skirmish, and campaign modes add replayability
  • Limited resources keep soldier teams small in a good way
  • Can't recall ever encountering a bug
  • Graphics are simple, but match gameplay perfectly
  • Appropriately priced
  • Great game for short (break) sessions

Cons:
  • Not a lot of depth (gets repetitive in long sessions)
  • Very little variation of level design

My scale:
1 = hate, 2-3 = dislike, 4-5 = okay, 6-7 = like, 8-9 = love
10 reserved for rare games that I'll remember forever

Fun Factor: 9/10

What I like:
- Crafting that makes finding particular items very rewarding
- Base building that is simple, but looks and works great
- Active developers adding new features often
- Survival aspect is very real
- Creatures that can be both awe inspiring and terrifying
- Water world graphics are just wow (even on low setting)
- Environment is an absolute joy to look at
- Early Access done right

What I don't like:
- Doesn't take long to "do it all" - no long term goals / challenges
- The rich world starts to feel empty after a while
--- EDIT: Recent updates have added a lot more depth to the story and exploration

My scale:
1 = hate, 2-3 = dislike, 4-5 = okay, 6-7 = like, 8-9 = love
10 reserved for rare games that I'll remember forever
