Immaculately vibey game that doesn't overstay its welcome. The physics can bug out a bit at times, but the overall experience nears perfection.

Early Access Review
I like games that play themselves and boy does it.

Probably the best non-FromSoft souls-like that I've played. My only real complaint is that it approaches the heights of Sekiro's parry system, but clings to closely to the Souls convention of enemies which are too hard to stagger for it to reach the same flow state. The middle ground is good, but it does make me wanna go play Sekiro. Overall, super worth playing with a healthy time to beat.

Great story driven experience. Manages decent scares without being unbearable.

I came to this game as a Hotline Miami enjoyer looking for a longer, more gameplay focused experience. Ultimately, I don't think that's what this game is. It is something better.

At first I thought the departure from HM's one hit kill system was to the game's detriment, but I have come to find it creates a completely unique gameplay loop that allows you to be a complete and utter maniac. Where in HM (especially in 2) every move needed to be carefully calculated because every misstep meant death, in OTXO you can sprint into a hail of bullets, send your own back in return and come out covered in blood, feeling like God's gift to the firearms industry.

The best advice I can give someone who isn't immediately hooked by this game is: learn to play like a maniac. There should be no downtime. You should never be stopping. You should always be shooting.

My only complaint is the boss fights. They are bullet spongey and are more reliant on knowing attack tells and safe strategies as opposed to the normal combat loop which is 100% off the cuff improv. Luckily they only show up every 6 rooms or so.

This game is fantastic. You should play it.
