Early Access Review
I've held off on writing this until I felt I could give it a recommend. Recently it's hit a point where I feel I can do so, but not without reservation.

Game play wise, combat is fun, and progression from learning the weapons and its systems was satisfying, though there doesn't feel like there is a long term carrot unless you're self motivated.

Difficulty fluctuates wildly. The early hours were incredibly frustrating, the new tutorial is nice, but doesn't prepare you for the volume of mobs you'll encounter at times. Then eventually, once you have a full kit, you wish it was harder.
I do think the current state where we no longer have the radiation zones to pressure you off map, combined with starting in the "easy" biome, is a soft enough ramp on, a major concern I had before.

I think the biggest issue right now is that lack of long term carrot. Before the recent changes, which forces your gear to be consumed in turn for materials at the end of a successful run, I found that carrot coming in the for of the loot grind to try to find my ideal set per character.
I admit the game loop as a whole is in a *much* better place now than it was then.
But I must also admit that missing that carrot has shortened its replay-ability for me significantly. I think an option to retain your gear at the cost of retaining your world tier + a step boost to monster and boss scaling by world tier for subsequent clears, would create a ramping difficulty curve to keep combat interesting while also providing a loot hunting carrot to the end game to keep looting interesting.

Full disclosure, I've been following the studio since Hyper Light Drifter released and I really want this game to succeed.
The game was a bit of a mess when it first released but and it's improved to a point that I'm comfortable with recommending people dive in at a 30$ price point.
That said, I really hope it finds that end game carrot to keep me coming back to this whenever I have 15-30 minutes to burn. Keep up the good work Heart Machine.

This game has no right being as good as it is.

To be clear, it's not revolutionary in any way.

The gameplay is dead simple, little more than a shooting gallery. Not say that's a bad thing, the Auto 9mm feels amazing and makes critical shots feel like popping pimples.
Mobility is hilarious, I haven't had to take such detours simply to climb the z axis since pre-A Realm Reborn FFXIV.
The plot is, well, very Robocop. The twisted world feels right out of the movies.

It feels like they steered so hard into the Robocop camp, at least their own take of it, that this felt more Robocop 3 than that movie ever did.

It doesn't overstay its welcome either, solid entertainment for a play through, not sure I'll ever revisit it though.

If you can get over the occasional stutters, I'd argue this is about as STAR WARS as a game gets.

Plot telegraphs pretty obviously, but it doesn't matter as the actual story is executed well so it still lands.

Locomotion feels excellent, although how you get around in some of the set pieces did require some suspension of disbelief (beyond even that of what force powers might allow), it's used to play up the spectacle however so it's at least fun even if a bit ridiculous.

Combat is just okay. I played it on Jedi Knight which was not exactly difficult, the power fantasy survives it. The different stances and being able to swap between them was nice, although I never felt any particular need to switch due for strategy's sake. Only major point of annoyance was occasional 1 hit kill moves which, thankfully, were not frequent. The tracking on those abilities though made it so it felt real bad when they were encountered (crazy eyed frogs, I'm looking at you).

All in all I enjoyed this one more then the previous Jedi game, and this one's conclusion has me eagerly awaiting another.

As a fan of The Expanse, and Drummer in particular, this seemed a good opportunity to try a telltale game.

While a bit on the short side, I still enjoyed the tale, even if a few situations seemed a bit far fetched.

I've faced the "Battlefield 2042 Player was ejected from game because of Easy Anti-Cheat authentication fails." in more games than not in the last few months of trying to play this game. I've given up spamming verify to try to get this game to work, just hoping this saves someone from wasting their time and money on what might otherwise be a fun game were it not for a poor anti-cheat implementation that causes more damage than good.

It like a more character focused X-COM with more of a focus on a story being progressed and stealth in place of the resource and infrastructure building of that game.

I enjoyed it enough to switch completely to it for the duration of the game and it lasted an acceptable length. I was left wanting some more, so I picked up the DLC and will be playing that next.
