Played this game for the first time when the XBOX ONE came out. Picking it back up after so many years due to my recent interest in ambient and electronic music. Martin Stig Anderson, the composer for this game, is not only a genius but an innovator in sound design. Whoever worked with him on the atmosphere and SFX for this game deserve awards. Truly the most brain foggy mind fuzzy game to ever exist.

Don't let the cry babies distract you from the real reviews of this DLC.

Just got done playing the campaign and... boy. They flexed their creativeness with this one. You would THINK that a DLC revolving around the past and memories would be a hot mix of re-used assets but its not. They reimagine these spaces we've been before in such a jaw dropping way. You can see parts of the environment you recognize but that's about it. Assembly of the new area, The Pale Heart, makes you feel so peaceful. It's a whole new aesthetic for Bungie that feels so unlike Destiny but in a good way. And UNLIKE Destiny, you see places and think, what if we can go there, and you ACTUALLY do. The linear approach for the new destination allows complete exploration of the environment.

About the campaign. It's pretty good. Way better cinematics and missions than Lightfall by a large margin. Lightfall looked gorgeous and new which was fine. But the direction of the cinematics felt off and stiff. While playing the Final Shape DLC me and my friends frequently noticed how authentic and smooth the cutscenes felt. Everything about the campaign felt clear, which is the complete opposite of Lightfall.

I'm excited to see what the meat of the DLC has to offer with the "new" Episode model. But as for the story it has my thumbs up at least.

I have indeed beat this game. Still got 5 more achievements to go. This game is great. It's not too hard, not too easy and there are so many reasons this game is enjoyable. I really appreciate that instead of giving you an ability like a gun or a double jump, the game gives you a Yo-Yo and a Bubble wand to use as a platforming device. And the list just goes on and on of how you will find an item and figure out it has that perfect utility you needed to do that one thing you saw earlier. Paired with this games aesthetically pleasing graphics, nostalgic sound design, and it's BLISSFUL soundtrack, this game is one of my favorites for 2024. I'm glad I was anticipating this games release. 7/10

Early Access Review
This game has so much potential but I hate to say that the Mostly Positive score on the store page is down right incorrect, it should be no higher than Mixed. They removed private matches??? This is an issue because well no one is playing matchmaking. And they removed the pit feature when you get thrown in a hatch which was a more fun struggle concept than DBD's wiggle. I also heard they removed the lobby feature where you wait at a train station but yk I wouldn't know because I can't find a lobby for the life of me. If they brought back private matches and had everything the game had at launch I think it could out pace DBD or at least give both developer's a nice genre feud.
