Actually the best souls game gameplay-wise, image of which was unfortunately ruined by a bunch of children who are too dumb to form their own opinion and to actually use and explore new mechanics, instead of parroting skill-issued takes from their favourite TikTok creators.

This game is surely not as monumental and lore-significant as DS1, but aside from Elden Ring, has the best set of the most interesting, handy, or fun to play features, which unfortunately got rejected in DS3 due to unicellular organisms who couldn't handle a little more complex gameplay after the previous game.

Music and Graphics are both absolutely magnificent, even though the engine is a little outdated and it's, honestly, pretty obvious to the eye. Majula to this point is still the best hub location ever created.

Disclaimer: The game was beaten twice, once just right now with a friend, and once like 3 years ago solo. Both times on non-Steam version, the first time even included finishing some side content, so the amount of hours to be estimated at around 65h

The game is an absolute mess of unfinished, boring, grindy, uninteresting and straight up frustrating game mechanics.

Pros:
Art is beautiful
Music is good
Good atmosphere

Cons:
Everything else:

Combat is stubborn and boring

Enemies are dumb and abusable

Mech has no purpose other than... well... idk tbh. You grind mech to more effectively grind mech. And the story is so short you don't even actually need anything above basic parts with cockpit lvl2

The story is just a big unfunny joke. You go scan a certain species, which is super grindy, because you must tediously walk around in hopes to find them, then you kill a super boring and easy boss, rinse and repeat for each species, then you open final boss, which is, SOMEHOW, even more boring and tedious. That's all.

Side quest are either super boring, or super grindy and not really rewarding.

Hunger bar that kills you super fast if you don't eat, yet food items don't stack and can spoil.

No map, no death marker, super dark caves, and, a cherry on top, gravity acceleration that
instakills you if you fall from like 2 inches.

Oh, also, the default mode is "Survival" and you drop your items on death.

The gameplay loop in terms of engagement is comparable to, idk, Tetris? Pong? But Pong is at least competitive lol. As well as Tetris.

So, overall, a solid 4/10.
5 for art, music and environment.
0 for gameplay.
-1 for super dumb awkwardly stitched mechanics.

Well. No.

A prime example of an actual game with actual gameplay, featuring extensive enough, varied gameplay loop, proper updates that both expand on previous mechanics and add new stuff, good balancing, a lot of unique items, enemies and bosses, well-balanced difficulty range(aside from Master, it's just Damage+HP up for mobs) and pretty addictive gameplay

Unless you are repelled by the graphics / art-style, 99% it'll occupy 50-100 hours of your time, for a single playthrough.

Totally recommended!
