Rarest Achievement Showcase
Review Showcase
After two hours of gaming, I think this is a borderline yes...

===Pros===
1. Very refreshing simulator, I think this is the first aircraft carrier simulator
2. You have full management of your ship, from loading at the docks, to your ship navigation, to planning your missions and how you attack/defend against your enemies. The attack sequence is a mini card game where you arrange your attack sequence to combo different effects against each other to stack your attack/defense values.
3. Rewarding unlock/skill progression. As mentioned, you go back to dock to refill between missions. There you can upgrade your ship, select your escorts, pick your crew and officers. All of those can be further upgraded and variants can be unlocked as well. This allow you to choose how you want to play. If the mission is short, you can consider ditching the supply carrier in exchange for another escort that provide you extra defense/attack abilities for a blitzkrieg approach.

===Neutral points===
1. Semi easy to learn, a bit tedious micro management and hard to master.
I have finished the tutorial, and I still failed my first mission miserably. I couldn't even launch one single attack and spent my whole time repairing my ship.
But once I had this experience and restarting, I completed the first mission with all sub missions cleared. That said, I think some of the criteria is a bit hard, such as the time limit. Which you might not be able to get from the first run since you need to spend time doing recon every where.

2 Very clunky aircraft deployment sequence but probably stayed true to history
A brief description of the basics:
To attack an enemy fleet, first you have to
a) Deploy 2 bombers and send them on a recon mission. There are question marks on your map, you need to check each of them to find your enemies. Some can be completely unrelated. You have to press launch after assigning a recon mission and watch your 2 sets of bombers queue up and fly out.
b) After you see a hint that the question mark is indeed an enemy fleet, you need to send another 2 bombers on a identify target mission. Again you have to press launch after assigning a identify target mission and watch your 2 sets of bombers queue up and fly out.
c) Now you will have a full picture of the enemy fleet and you can plan an attack! Depending on how you play your cards, your aircraft requirement will be different. When you first start the game, your carrier deck can only hold 6 sets of aircrafts, so you cannot perform an attack card combo with more than 6 planes. You can upgrade your ship later to allow more and more planes on your deck. The number of plane lifts also increases in your final ship upgrade to speed up the plan deployment process.
Once the strategy is set, you need to manually assign the required planes on the deck, each assignment is slow and the deployment is even slower. Your crew tow the planes from below deck to on deck and then have to align them perfectly at the side of the carrier.
d) Once all your planes are on deck you can finally launch the attack, it is another launch button press and watch all 6 sets of planes queue up and fly out, takes around 30 minutes in game time.

And after each mission, you have to switch your carrier deck to recover mode (from launch mode) to allow your planes to land. The landing process of course is also very slow as planes take turn to land on your deck and towed to one end of the carrier before another set of planes can land... Note that while you are doing that you are pretty much sitting ducks as you cannot manage your planes at all.

I think some quality of life changes can be implemented such as auto deployment of planes according to your attack plan. Or you can choose whether or not to send planes directly to garage when recovering them to save some time. Currently they only go back to the garage if your deck is already full. Also note that when you want to send planes from deck to garage, the position is very important as well. If the planes you want to send is at the very back, all 5 plane crews at the front will have to move aside first before your target can move. Very realistic but very frustrating gaming wise. Many actions in this game requires you to have a very clear plan of what you want to do as the overhead for each action is very costly. If you try to react to one emergency happening on screen you will mess up your plan and end up having wrong planes on deck and cannot launch, or having all your planes stuck on the deck while the enemy bomber rains death upon you...

Can't say this is wrong as this is very realistic I am sure but the design is questionable, that's why I put this as neutral.

===Cons===
1. Buggy...
for example, no achievements unlocked for me, just the idea of having to go through the tutorial again annoys me...
Another example was there was one time when I as trying to deploy a set of bombers on my deck, the game failed to recognize they are already on the deck and refuse to clear the queue of deployment. Your mission is pretty much dead as you cannot manage your planes anymore. Had to restart the run or load an earlier save if you have one.

2. Your enemy feels much more powerful than you...
Playing on normal difficulty, my enemy sent like two sets of attack to me back to back which I couldn't retaliate anymore.
Spent too much time managing planes on deck -> enemy planes attack -> Had to re-arrange crew members for damage recovery -> even less resources to manage planes or navigation -> enemy attacks again with submarine -> had to send some planes to handle that -> enemy sends more planes while I am still healing my damaged crew -> Start setting up defense strategies so I have no time to deploy attack planes -> enemy bomb the ♥♥♥♥ out of me -> spend even more time to repair everything -> radar alerts another attack incoming -> loop... you get the idea.
Once you are in a death spiral you are pretty much dead.

3. Too many things to micromanage...
You have to tell officers to run to different rooms on your ship to flick different switches, each representing some buffs for your ship. But some of them even determine which missions you can do. For example, you can only recon if you have at least one switch flick to an option saying "+1 recon mission". You need to do this for all 3 types of missions... at the same time trading of some other perks so you can perform these missions. And they are locked during the duration so you cannot switch to other things.

You need to manage your crew member assignments as well, you need them in the navigation department to move, more men = the faster you can move. There are other departments, one for defense, one for damage control, one for managing the planes, one for medical, one for plane maintenance. You only have 8 crew members at the start, so you need to keep switching people between depts. in order to keep your ship functioning... Worst thing is that they need time to move between depts. so all changes are not instant. In the damage control department you even have to micro manage which crew will perform which type of tasks. If you forgot to switch their duties, prepare to have your ship sink/burn down while your crew maliciously comply to your orders for them to "tend to injured crew members only".

Also mentioned before you need to manage your planes on the deck. The deck on deck off process is really painful to watch and endure.

Conclusion:
All in all, I think this game is worth a try, but make sure you play the demo first to get a feeling of the realistic element of this game as it is not for everyone. Prepare to replay missions if you want to clear the side missions for extra rewards.
