A simple competitive game with an unexpected amount of depth, where matches are filled with all kinds of mindgames. Find and join the official Discord to find people to play with.

EDIT: I've changed my review from negative to positive, because after some patches it seems most of my complaints have been ironed out. unit responsiveness is improved, and the single player has been rebalanced. Kudos to the devs for listening to feedback and improving the game.

OLD REVIEW BELOW:

I really tried to like this game. RTS games are pretty rare, and I'd love the artist's work behind the 1920+ world long before I heard of this game. When I first heard this game was announced, I was super excited.

Playing the game is unfortunately just not fun. The biggest problems are the pathfinding and the unit responsiveness. Units just don't do what you tell them to. The game just ultimately feels clunky to play.

Another, less important but still annoying, issue is the single player level design. Usually each mission has a 'trick' to beating it, and without the trick it becomes near impossible. This is usually a group of friendly units or a powerful mech hidden somewhere on the map. Either you find these helpful units and the game is trivially easy, or play without them and you're helplessly underpowered, even on easier difficulties. This leads to quite a bit of trial and error in the single player campaign.

This game has some really cool mechanical stuff going on, it's just a shame that the act of playing the game itself feels like a slough.

It's a shame this game had such a rough launch, because it's genuinely a alot of fun and the developers continue to improve it (news came out today that a big graphical overhaul patch was coming for free on steam and next-gen consoles).

Play this before you play FF7R. Trust me.
