Do you enjoy resource management games?
Have you played Minecraft and were not entirely turned off by the graphic style?

Then just buy this game because you're going to love it - and it keeps getting better as it updates.

If you HATE the overall look - and are not typically a fan of resource management, then I'm not sure this is right for you.

No game should take over an hour.. to still not have any progress made.

First - no instructions as to how anything functions. This, topped with a lousy interface, makes general gameply much more convoluted than necessary.
Second - other people taking up space. When you build an object, other players can't build within a small area. That makes sense, except people cover entire masses of land in small objects that can not be destroyed.

After an hour of playing I had managed to :
-Gather rocks, wood, flint, and other basic crafting materials.
-Build a campfire... but never place it anywhere because all of the space was taken over by other players - most of the space just being small wooden pillars purely used as place holders.
- Die 5 times just trying to get to a base owned by a couple friends.
- Randomly spawn inside the "bases" of other people with absolutely no way out other than quitting the game and rejoinng.

I am absolutely baffled that so many people enjoy this game.

To begin - even though many others have said this I feel every comment on it should mention - this is NOT a game in the sense you may be thinking. It's an interactive visual story.

There is, unfrotunately, no save feature. In fact there are no options at all. Just the Esc key that will exit the game.
Tht being said... you should probably be able to finish it in one sitting if you're dedicated to thinking about what you haven't checked out.

The whole "story" takes place in a single small cabin. You click certain items and pieces of furniture to trigger dialogue from the main character. As you examine more things, he begins to piece everything together - dropping hints to the story as it goes. Then a major change will happen - and you repeat the process, but this time with access to more places and items (a closet, a trunk, etc).

The music is incredible. The art style is dark and atmospheric. The story is, although maybe a little predictable, very emotional.

I have 1 complaint, really, and it's very trivial. No real spoilers involved, but if you really don't want to know anything without playing the game for yourself, do not read on. In short - I DO highly recommend "Serena"

***Complaint: The main character's wife, in one letter you find, says that she is not nearly as good with words as the main character (who is, presumably, a poet or an author of some sort). In the other note you find? Her word choices are... well. Too poetic for someone who doesn't consider themselves a poet. It's not a big deal, but it made her character feel less believable, to me.

Repeat. I DO absolutely recommend "Serena". Incredible work.

A classic game that has been ported endless times. This brings me back to when I first played this game on a DOS computer in the early/mid 90's (I was a bit late, I know) and feels the exact same way.
I will admit that I prefer the port on the Atari Jaguar - but this is the most "classic" feel this game will ever have : playing it with just your keyboard with all of hte original sounds intact.

It's impossible to give this game any more praise that has not already been given a hundred times.

Simply put - the best platformer I've played in YEARS.

Simple. Funny. A bit repetative, but that's part of the joke as well. This game is, as I'm sure you can imagine, a mockery of it's predecessors. The gameplay is wonderful, the artwork is charming, the concept is funny (but would get very old and cliche if too many other games like this start showing up. As is - it's not exactly a brand-new idea), and the "story" and characters had me laughing quite a bit.
It's a short game, but for the price I don't mind. It's not incredibly high in replayability, but I may come back and laugh my way through it a few more times in the future.

The humor is exactly what I expected from the AVGN. I don't always find it funny, and I generally enjoy Jame's videos more for the information and content than his "angry" rants. However, this game has it's funny moments - and the cameos always made me laugh. But most importantly is that THIS GAME IS INCREDIBLE. If you play on the easiest setting, and are an experienced platform gamer, you should be able to play through it withing a couple hours of game time (if that). But then this feels like a classic "go back, play it again, do it better, find everything, beat it on higher difficulty" style of game play.

The controls are incredible - and I use a Logitech F310, so nothing perfect, but the game feels amazing. The contoller support is wonderful, as well.
It plays in a similar manner to a Mega Man game with it's intense platforming... but it runs much faster and much more smoothly. I would honestly love to find more games that play just like this. I can't get enough of it!
