194 Hours
194 hours or 11640 minutes.

Originally, when I found myself getting hooked on the game, I thought I'd have to do bounties and outlaw stuff only in order to achieve 100%. Now I've played poker, dominos, and hunted more squirrels and animals then I've ever imagined, spent hours playing blackjack for certain hands and some other hours collecting and admiring plants, all in order to achieve 100% completion. 194 hours is what it took for me to achieve 100%, admiring the game along the way. I think that should tell you all about how much content is in this game.

That drive to 100% a game hasn't come in a loooong time, and honestly I have to credit it to the phenomenal storytelling and beautiful game. Legitimately felt my heart sink and my stomach turn at certain points of the game. Pick this game up if you haven't already, you are missing out.

I got it as part of the humble bundle, and for the price I paid, it's a relatively okay deal. What strikes me the most about looking at it now, is that at it's current 50$ valuation for the standalone game, you're better off putting that money in the toilet. This game is carried by the fact that the base non VR game is a classic, and has some good storytelling elements, but it falls short in nearly every regard a VR title can fall short in. Performance is terrible, VR controls are clunky, the HUD is cut off, and the crosshair is unusable because it's misaligned. There's no interaction with your environment at all besides pointing to something with your left hand and tapping the trigger, and ultimately it falls short on nearly every aspect that the borderlands 2 VR wet dream you're comparing it to would succeed in.

Performance is horrific on a GTX 1070ti, while the game asks for a 1060. BAMF feels like a cheap trick, and more like a toy then an actual new mechanic to enjoy the game with. Co-op, the main driver of the base game is entirely removed. And with everything stated above, this feels like more like a novelty then a real alternative to play the game in. It's the equivalent of playing your favorite game with a steering wheel, at first you fall into the trance of being able to play a different way, and then you get hit by several metaphorical walls, reminding you that the developers never intended it to play this way. You don't only experience this with the mechanics, but every cutscene in the game abruptly cuts to a black room with an invisible flatscreen playing the cutscene, reminding you that you're playing a novelty.

I grew up playing this game, but I can't recommend buying it's VR counterpart for anything more than $15.

I'm glad I got it through EA Play before buying it because this game is horrid. It is plagued by cheaters. I'll tell you one of the most awful experiences came from one of my first games, being aimbotted by a guy in a plane over and over, my 32 man team getting teamwiped again and again. The guy was literally over level 100 too, just sitting there farming 90-0. I thought my day in hell was over when I saw the defeat screen, only for someone on my team to be cheating 2 games later, and then even worse someone on the other team started cheating back. This game is more HvH than HvH servers on CSGO. Stay away at all costs and do not spend your money on it.

This game is fun, has fluid mechanics and a good art style/aesthetic going for it. I managed to complete the main levels and get some 3rd person mode in on the side in around 5 and a half hours, keep in mind this is with me retrying certain levels over and over to optimize my runs and get around 7 top 100 to 45 placements and 1 top 20. My main gripe with this game is the skill gap walls. The difficulty doesn't ease from stage to stage and world to world, there is clear cut walls of skill between stages, and even levels. The last 10 levels were a pain the ass, but 99-100 was a huge skill gap itself. At base, this game has enough content to keep you entertained for I'd say 3.5 hours. I mixed in some casual speedrunning and it was very fun to try and be creative about my approach and optimizations, if you're into that kind of thing or want to experiment with it, I'd highly recommend this game as a gateway. With that being said, unless you really want some B roll footage or need to play now, wait for a sale. If I paid full price for this game, this review would be a lot more bleak and demoralized.

The only thing holding me back from playing this 24/7 as a beginner right now is muscle soreness. Seriously so fun, and a great workout on wider swing/harder maps
