Never written a review for early access before, but this game is special. There's a lot of potential to be one of the best RPGs of our time. I've never played the OG Baldurs Gate games, but the story and characters are as well written as Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins.

Sorry to break everyone's rose colored glasses, but this game needs a remake to be playable in this decade. I was probably like 3 when this came out so I never played it when it came out but it's definitely showing its age. Which sucks, because as much as I've played through it I can say that the storytelling and roleplaying elements are TOP NOTCH. But everything else is dated. The combat, the graphics (and I'm no snob... I still play videogames from 2007 but come on just look at it), and just the gameplay in general. For example no arrows for quests so you have to read meticulously try to figure out where the hell you are going (the quest where it tells you to go past a rock and then follow the coast comes to mind). I know some people will say b-but MY IMMERSION!!!. Sorry but I don't want to feel like I'm lost in a city I've never been to when I'm playing a videogame for fun, I'll save that for the real life roadtrips. The no fast travel is another thing I'm sure some old fans will disagree with, but again I've had a 45 minute commute before and I'd prefer not to do the same in my freetime. Overall, I can't recommend this game as its pretty much unplayable with how outdated it is but it definitely deserves a remake. Maybe when Morrowind Rebirth comes out I can edit this into a positive review.

Personally I'm partial to Oblivion for the more creative and fun side/guild quests, but Skyrim is still a very good game. I'd argue the main story lines were better in Skyrim but the side quests and guilds could be slightly underwhelming at times (too short!). Still a 10 tho.
