The current monetisation of this game is disgusting, and the removal of things a lot of players previously paid for is the cherry on top. Even if you were to shell out for every expansion you can then look forward to having to pay extra for season passes and to unlock dungeons. And for seasons you already missed you can forget it, there is no way to complete past seasonal content. If you're into FOMO then Destiny 2 is the game for you.

If you're looking at Destiny 2 for the first time, be aware that the new player experience is one of the worst in any game ever. Most of the previous story content is removed; you will not understand who anyone is, what they're talking about or why you're doing anything at all, that's IF you can even figure out what there is to do without buying any of the DLCs (hint: not much aside from random playlists, as the game doesn't even have the vanilla campaign anymore). As a new player you'll be fighting the awful UI and the complete lack of clarity about your currently available activities and goals.

The game will give you very little direction beyond spamming you with splash screens to purchase things you haven't when you go into orbit. It will not explain anything to you. If you're an MMO newbie you can look forward to having a wiki open constantly, and even if you're not you can bet you're going to have to look up things that the game will never explain to you.

All of this is a real shame, because the actual gameplay is fantastic. So if you're willing to shell out for every expansion and a season pass full of FOMO every 3 months then go for it. You most certainly will enjoy the gunplay. If you care at all about time sensitive rewards and features and a recurrent cost then stay very very far away.
