OK so the combat system is terrible, and feels unimpactful despite crazy animations, and the minute to minute dialogue is laughably bad, but those story hooks will get into you. Who is he? Why does he have the mask? What are the thorns?

You'll want to know the answers, and those answers are surprisingly satisfying. So is it worth tolerating a ♥♥♥♥ combat system for the story? Yes. Yes it is.

Honestly one of the best remakes I've come across. Trails 1 is one of the few JRPGs that clicked with me enough to stick with it to the end and I have very fond memories of it.

This remake, while obviously looking very different absolutely captures the magic of the original.

It's damning it with faint praise saying it's the best Star Trek game in ages, but what we have here feels so much like a TNG era Star Trek episode, it's wonderful.

There's not much "game" per-se but if you want a great chunk of Star Trek, you really should get this.

Boils down everything that makes immersive sim combat work to a tight, fun game with much ridiculousness. Plays great and has a really fun story.

While this runs fine on my steam deck, the only way I could get it to even remotely work on my desktop now was to put it into the beta branch, which has oddities in it, and I know I'm not the only one facing this. A beta that will likely never be completed as it looks like the devs abandoned this years ago.

If they fix their software, I'll put this to a yes, as it is fun.

Shame because it's the closest we ever got to a modern Uridium.
