I find it boring, and it's hard to get enthusiastic about. Feels like work. From all the positive reviews I do not doubt the game has immense depth, but It definitely lacks initial appeal and I don't feel motivated to play it further.

Early Access Review
The art, the sound, the music, the gameplay- they all conspire to fully immerse you in a hostile Canadian wilderness. You're basically Les Stroud caught in some kind of arctic apocalypse, and just like the celebrity survivalist you'll find yourself continually faced with decisions whose outcomes will prove to either benefit your continued existence, or hasten your demise.

Do you stay put, or go exploring? How are your clothes holding up? Do you have enough water, or should you try and gather wood to start a fire so that you can melt some snow before sundown? Should you wait for the sun to warm things up a bit before venturing out to check your rabbit snares? How long will your food last? What's on the agenda tomorrow, and what will you do now to prepare?

Whatever you decide, the weather will inevitably throw a wrench in your plans. That is- if the wolves don't get you first. And if you find yourself lost and wandering through thick fog with dusk approaching, you may be forced to find a place to start a fire and climb into your sleep sack. Be sure to wake up every hour to stoke the fire, or you may just slip into The Long Dark.
