This game really scratched an itch I had for a really specific kind of imsim. I love the aesthetic, the euro jank, the gameplay and movement. Unfortunately the dev is a lunatic who's too busy spouting hateful rhetoric rather than pushing updates to their game.

The offending material can be found on the official game Discord server and the toxicity has spread to the game's Steam community hub where other 'completely sane individuals' spend what are probably hours writing essay long posts attempting to justify the devs horrible behavior.

I played the game for about an hour and discovered all of this just by searching the community hub for guides and help on being stuck because the game sequence broke without much effort. It really didn't take long for me to regret my purchase, so I requested a refund. I hope the lead dev gets the mental help they really need, genuinely.

After my refund I bought Project Silverfish instead. Its a better game, has less bugs, and the dev doesn't actively call trans people slurs.

Went to go get a old GPU. Stole a rifle from a guy. Ate suspicious mushrooms. Got shot at while hiding in the back of a pickup truck. Got domed off a roof and fell to my death.

Don't bother until performance fixes tbh. Requiring DLSS to even play this game with a stable framerate is wild.

This game caused me so much motion sickness I had to quite literally lay down on my couch for an hour before I could walk without feeling nauseous. The sad part is that I'd probably love this game otherwise, I even tried messing with the black color levels on my monitor, messing with HDR, and using a mod to increase FPS since base game optimization is really bad. I literally had to play this game in small bursts, and most of the time I felt very nauseous.

Bioshock meets Walt Disney? Hell yeah I'm in... That is if I can stop vomiting, due to the motion sickness.

Good game, but buggy and stuttery as all get out.

Sometimes you just really wanna to hit something with a shovel... A big shovel... That also happens to be on fire... And capable of blasting a dude half a football field away... Look, I have needs too.

I wish this game had cryptids and more analog horror stuff because it totally fits the vibe. The best way to play is with a custom radio station consisting of Art Bell Radio broadcasts from the 80s and 90s, these can be found on Archive(dot)org as all his stuff he's ever done has been saved by fans; Art's radio broadcasts improve the atmosphere significantly, it's always fun to hop back in your car and hear some whacko lady talking about conspiracy theories, being abducted by aliens, how radio waves are being controlled by the government to view your skeleton, or some other crazy stuff, it fits right in with the story and setting of the game 100%.

The scrap, loot, escape, build loop is really fun and nice but can reduce the pacing to a grinding halt if you prioritize looting instead of story progression. The game really pushes you to balance these two aspects, and it can determine your enjoyment of the game, or burn you out fast. I wish there were more types of buildings and locations, with a wider variety of loot and upgrades, maybe even different types of vehicles with different stats you could collect? This could add some needed variety, leading to building special cars for special situations.

My biggest complaint is that Pacific Drive desperately needs more than slightly passive hostile entities that aren't just copy and pasted versions with different elements. There is very little interaction between the player and entities if you go ever so slightly out of your way to avoid them, it gets old quick and becomes tiresome.

Excuse me Ironwood Studios, WHERE ARE THE UFOS??? WHERE IS MOTHMAN? FRESNO NIGHTCRAWLERS? CHUPPACABRAS? How about some SASQUATCH??? They joke about him enough in the story!!! Follow through and let me see HARRY HENDERSON HIMSELF! It would be so hilarious (or terrifying) to be out on a run and accidentally hit a cryptid and have it flop over your hood while rushing towards the gateway to escape, or one grabs onto your bumper and gets carried through the gateway! Think of the gameplay opportunities!

The extraction mechanics aren't as anxiety inducing as others make them out to be, however if you are already predisposed to motion sickness or dizziness caused by any type of stress, or if any of this is caused by games that nudge you to hurry a little bit in emergency situations, this game may stress you out a bit. However please keep in mind you can turn those settings down or even off entirely.

Let's be honest, the only real downside is Unreal Engine 4, so mileage may vary with optimization and performance. This game is still comfy and relaxing to play if you are a car nut like me who loves old station wagons and driving through Appalachia.

DLC When??? Sequel when???

- TL;DR - Good game, but needs more snow, rust, UFOs, Mothman, Art Bell: Coast To Coast, and an AMC Eagle 4x4.

This game is a lot better than most give it credit for, and it runs better than Borderlands 4.
