Great fun to start but becomes a slog and frustrating later on.

Liked the retro feel and the general running around shooting stuff but it gets repetitive quickly with lots of back tracking.

The nail in the coffin for me were the bosses which got so oppressive I just gave up. Its not "get gud" in a souls way here its just tiring and not fun after a while.

Uninstalled it about 50% in.

Took a punt on this to stream my xbox to my steam deck, worked first time and i was playing all my series x games on deck in no time!

Worth every penny.

The problem with Starfield is that it is trying to be a Bethesda game a bit like a band releasing a new album 10 years into their career and trying and failing to chase their original success.

Although there were moments i enjoyed i realised I wont look back on my 130+ hours fondly, they feel like a bit of a mistake and a waste of time, the whole game is very good at making you waste your time.

I can however look back on the many hours i put into various skyrim characters and i do have loads of fond memories.

This is because Skyrim feels like an ADVENTURE every time you play it. Starfield feels like a JOURNEY, and not a very interesting one once its all over.

Thats the best i can describe it. BGS games often get a pass for the magic and wonder and a feeling of getting lost in a story, i had none of that (expect for maybe one mission from the crimson fleet) with starfield and when that's not there you spend 100+ hours chasing it and end up disappointed with an average at best game.

Some other points of note:
- The technology is old, its fallout 4 with a few upgrades. Games have moved on in the last 10 years, Bethesda seems to be trapped using their own engine and it shows
- There are quest lines which are flat out boring, especially the corporate one
- There is no feeling of exploration its just fast travel set piece areas
- The procedural generated content is ok at first and then obvious and boring
- The main quest is repetitive and the overarching story is filled with so many plot holes its kind of depressing that they had 8 years and this is what they came up with for a new IP.

This is a game signalling the death throes of a company that's lost touch with modern gaming, instead of taking risks and innovating. Its not worth the time investment in my opinion.

Played 50 minutes, had to match more symbols in some boring minigame than fight anything... when i did fight something it was repetative and easy all while an annoying voice over tried to make it 'spooky'. wanted to like this game but didn't... perhaps i'm not giving it a chance but i'm not wasting another 1-2 hours to find out.
