Played it during the free weekend. Really enjoyed it. I think it is worth the current sale price, but I will say initially the game is SLOW. And water management can be annoying. I do think it adds to the game though. Voice acting is fantastic, story is good. I did not see a single other player while playing. Saw some bases, but no other users. Likely because I barely made it out of the starting zone.

Absolute masterpiece. I haven't played RPG art like this in decades. Above and beyond the biggest surprise of a game for a me. And easily the best RPG in a decade. Possibly the greatest French game ever made.

Get Dave the Diver. DON'T QUESTION IT. IF YOU ARE REMOTELY INTERESTED IN THIS GAME, BUY IT NOW.

It is a MASTERPIECE. Best game I have played in YEARS all around. Every aspect of the game is so tight and well done. And don't even get me started on the amount of heart and soul that clearly went into this game. It is BEAUTIFUL. And all of this is without a story.

OH, BUT THERE IS A STORY! And even the story is fantastic. I just finished "the story" after over 150 HOURS of gameplay. And I will STILL keep playing. I will 100,000% this game.

I haven't gotten so much value from a game in so long.
I got married this past weekend. Greatest weekend and day of my life. And Dave the Diver was a perfect unwinding game to be memorialized in my memory for the rest of my life.

WHAT CAN I SAY?! JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS OUT THEY PULL ME BACK IN!

Guess I have to buy the last DLC I haven't purchased to make up for this being FREE! LET'S GOOOOOOOO!

Give it time... I kept trying to get into it. Kept getting bored. Eventually the game will HIT even if this isn't your usual jam like me. I'm enthralled now. I haven't beat it, but I know I will play through again already.

Okay, so I love Slay the Spire (200+ hours of playtime) and Monster Train(100+).

I was EXTREMELY on the fence about buying this. I actually got it after I returned a game that wasn't what I thought it was for Steam credit.

Buy it full price. Sale is great, but the "story" makes it a full price purchase for me.

Hopefully more in the future for the game as far as expanding replay value which it does not have compared to the two above deck builders i.e. no daily challenge.

STORY

And because of the "story" it was a VERY original experience for me. I am sure it is inspired, but as a 33 year-old man I was surprised and it felt fresh and new. There is a point where I did feel like I got stuck a little or I would have likely beat it in one marathon while I was off sick last week.

Avoid spoilers. Go in dark for those dark web Inception vibes.

GAMEPLAY

It's a solid deck builder. It has great mechanics and I guess you could say four different card deck mechanics. It's a lot more expansive than that, but not so much as MT or StS. And that's not a negative at all. The story isn't making up for anything here. It really is in my opinion a perfect balance of story and gameplay.

REPLAY VALUE

There is no new game+, no daily challenge, there is multiple endings I guess?I only finished it once. And certain achievements you can unlock that you can miss. You may not see every card, but realistically not much there to me. Still the game is 10000% worth it even if you only play it once.

GAME GRADE:

A-

It's brutal. You'll lose a lot. I still haven't "beaten" the game yet. I keep coming back though. Amazing if you like tactics based games. Darkest Dungeon meets Final Fantasy Tactics?

EDIT:

I beat the game for the first time. It was sudden. I had just been doing contracts at suddenly dialogue box for the ending. I never even did a noblemen contract because they wrecked me even with my characters being level nine to ten. It does let you keep playing though. I'll eventually buy the DLC. Maybe. Someday. Maybe time to retire this game.

This game is a masterpiece of animation, old school platforming, and design. Play it, suffer, and play it some more. I still haven't beat the game, but I always come back to it at least once a month. One of my best purchases in years.

BEST MULTIPLAYER SPORTS GAME WITH ROCKETS, CARS, EXPLOSIONS, AND BALLLLLLLS. ALL THE BALLS.
