Steam wants us to write a review but at the end a good and useful review can only we written if you either have all the thought through options in mind or if you use simply a template.
For the awards side I got forced to do bad work once - well then, at the end I still recommend that game if you like something between easy simulation for fun up to a marine specialist or if you want to learn how it was done and how you still could do things in an U-Boat.

Alright, time for a review at the state of the early access 2021, 17th of February.

Subnautica: Below Zero is basically a game about diving and gathering materials to be able to craft different things for whichever target you want to reach with it.
At the date, written above, the game is still in early access mode which just got a bit extended from the developers for being able to polish some things up before 1.0 release. That decision is in my oppinion a good point since the end of the gamestory is not finished and therefore from the gaming experience without console commands missing yet.
There are also a few bugs which are mostly just not a big deal except maybe one thing which happened only in one try to me. That was after a misstake of me anyways so normally - for "normal" playing people - it should not be game breaking as well. In that case I didn't try to find a solution but after a quick research there should be an easy way to fix it if it happens. (Not going into detail what it was since there are daily little updates now and maybe it got already fixed since the last 4 days)

The game:
If you play Subnautica: Below Zero without having played Subnautica you will maybe not understand some nice and sweet gimmicks in the game but you will also not even know it would be from another game which is a good work.
To not spoiler the story so far I just write: You are Robin, the sister of Sam which has probably died on an expedition and you want to find out what happened. This is stated directly at the beginning, so, just have fun if you like stories in games. All the secrets and happenings I will not write out yet....

The game is good playable and gets easier when you are warm with what you need to do. Some things are still a bit hard to find from time to time, but that will also probably a thing getting changed in the future (I felt like storybased waypoints were missing but not sure it that was meant to be like this).

Graphics are nicely done and you feel good and relaxed diving through the environment.

You can also sweeten up your habitat with gimmicks and do the comfortable base building part. You don't need it but Subnautica doesn't mean you need to always run through the story. You have - except in 'normal' gamemodes the oxygen - no timepressure.

Gamemodes:
There are 4 gamemodes included with the game. You can play the game in the original survive mode. Here you need to care about food, water, your health for sure, oxygen and the new implemented temperature. (In Subnautica you were always damaged from too high heat but now you can also die from freezing). If you should die you will lose some items out of your list and getting warped back to your drop pod.
You can also play the game as sandbox free game where you only need to care about health, oxygen and temperature.
In the hardcore mode, which will get you maybe in trouble in some situations you have only the one life you have. On death all of your game progress will be lost.
And as last in the creativity mode you will be able to build bases without needing to care about anything. Also the storyline is deactivated.

The game itself ran smoothely with everything in the highest settings. I didn't check the technical side due to it has nothing to do with a game review on steam as long as the game runs "fine" from the players perspectie.

So far for now, all the rest should be left inside of the game and not in a review.
