(Review marked as received-for-free due to receiving the game as a gift. Thank you, Arzure Bunny!)

Like many idle games, it becomes surprisingly complex as it goes on. Unfortunately, the effort needed to advance in each system becomes quite unbalanced extremely quickly: some systems advance astronomically quickly, while others are always thoroughly behind in terms of usefulness. The use of generative AI in place of human-authored text is also a huge bummer.

The premise and bones are good, though, and the developer looks to have been quite active in the past. If the game receives new updates, I am open to reconsidering my review.

Endlessly replayable, and regularly updated. Cross-platform support is fantastic, and it runs on every piece of hardware I've thrown at it. If you get bored, there's always another challenge or other game mode to get into. It's worth more than the price of admission.

I only have two negative things to say. While multiplayer games do have reconnect functionality, the reconnect experience is subpar and easy bugs out if anyone in the game has an unstable-yet-still-workable connection. Also, microtransactions are prevalent, but it is possible to earn enough Monkey Money to reasonably buy everything if you know what you are doing.

It's a fun game but is made nearly unplayable by multimonitor bugs and poor performance.

Multimonitor bugs (minor): On desktop, if running on multiple monitors, there is no way to choose which monitor to run on, and if the game is forced by another tool to run on the correct monitor, input does not work. This latter issue occurs both in fullscreen and windowed mode (there is no native support for borderless window). After a while I gave up and switched to Steam Deck.

Poor performance (major): Turning off Vsync will make the game significantly less of a slideshow. However, even after doing this, it still can't get up to 60 FPS on either desktop or Steam Deck. On Steam Deck, it is the only game I have seen that will shred a full battery in under 90 minutes.

I cannot recommend the game unless the multimonitor (minor) and performance (major) issues are resolved.

Only the quarter of the game that takes place in the hospital is engaging. Otherwise, the rest of the game doesn't have much substance. Zones outside the hospital don't have much to explore, giving the impression of walking through a theme park of destroyed Raccoon City rather than actually being in destroyed Raccoon City.
