I put off buying this game for a couple months, but back while it was still in development as a very featureful demo, I absolutely loved it. it has a feeling of old-growth in how it conveys its world to you, in its outward-looking backgrounds, focused deeply on the landscape. it has a feeling of the feminine and how we see ourselves in what is outside of us, and pull out of ourselves that outside that was always there; and yet also, of the rot and the ugly being a part of us too, in how it chooses to be a game about mushroom girls. There is no clear line delineated, no "sides" to these things as they swirl on the screen and in the prose. It's easily worth $15, I played upwards of 20 hours previously and I was still finding entirely new events and parts of the game. Support these developers!!!

One of the most consistently inventive and imaginative games I've ever played. 60 different areas, plus some bonuses and the hub areas, and every single one feels new and interesting. (Though, sorry bull dash, it's the one bad land in the game.)

The basic gameplay is more or less just learning how to navigate the space to deal with lots of enemies at once. Learning to feel with your gut which enemies to knock out first, or whether to run away from them all and force them into a trail behind you (as, in hyperbolic space, it's very hard to be truly surrounded).

This sense of spatial combat is played with in dozens of ways - an infinitely branching tree, rising forever, which you must leave the branches of to collect apples; a frozen lake which threatens to melt beneath your feet if you stand anywhere for too long; a prairie with bulls rushing forever, and the promise of greener grasses beyond them; infinitely many, infinitely circular islands deep within the sea.

This is the kind of game that makes "find the center of a circle" into an interesting challenge. Hyperbolic space isn't just a little novelty here - it's used to great effect. Woven deeply into the core of the game, but at the same time with various phenomena making up the backbone of various areas. If you play this game long enough, and you're willing to engage with it, and learn something new, you're going to understand hyperbolic space on an intuitive level you can't get anywhere else.

It's a game that's kept me engaged for *many* years - there's so many different areas to master, and the achievements just hijack my brain in such a satisfying way. There's always more to see here. It took me years before I even saw all the areas *once*. Even today I learn new things about it every day.

If you like Super Hexagon, you will like this game.

Very visually dazzling, good audio soundtrack, and fast-paced arcade gameplay based on patterns which randomly come up. There is not a single moment in the game when you feel the game screwed you over and you're always striving to do better, especially when your friends are ahead of you on the leaderboards. There's a lot more good than bad here.
