This is a great spiritual successor for Jump'n'Bump, but HopSquash goes above and beyond what you want from this kind of game, highly recommended!

It works with Xbox controllers, has bright, charming pixel art graphics and optional blood that can be turned off for those who need it. AI is decent enough to give you a challenge while you are learning the controls, and having multiple people against each other and AI is even better.
If you have any issue with High DPI screens in HopSquash Legacy (the other is fine), just add the "-mx" command line option in Steam's launch options of this game.
