The mechanics are shallow and honestly pretty boring. Lack of things to do, the NPCs aren't interesting at all and farming in this game is honestly optional because most (if not all) of the main quests can just be completed by mining or foraging.

I had around 8 hours of fun until I noticed that I'm nearing the end game already. The only thing that added so hugely to my gametime was an invisible town point mechanic. The main story needs you to collect a certain amount of these town points to unlock new quests (it never tells you that). The way I reached the needed amount was to gift grass to villagers daily for two ingame months as that was one of the best ways to farm these invisible points.

If this game was 10€, sure. As it stands I think asking for 40€ is insane when there are way better options available for less.

I loved Samorost 1 and 2 - I played those games back on some flash game website when I was a kid and replayed them fully a few months ago. The somewhat "random" artstyle the genre has was always super interesting to me, and I can easily still recommend playing 1 and 2.

So it's a bit sad to say that Samorost 3 simply did neither live up to my expectations, nor to its price tag - 20€ is too much, thankfully I bought it on sale and would recommend for people to do the same should they really want to play it.

I'm gonna keep it short: The game is visually amazing, but most puzzles are so random you'd have to guess whatever you are supposed to do. And whenever a puzzle game does that, I usually just grab the first walkthrough I find and try to solve it that way. Sadly, this is also exactly what happened with this game. Had I not done it like this, I would've probably just deleted the game without trying to complete it. I'm blaming it on the "open world" approach the game has, as the two games prior were easily doable without a guide whatsoever.

And honestly, as good as they look, some animations are way too long ... a lot of the time I just felt like I was staring at the screen, wanting for the animation to finally be over.

3/10 just because the style and sounddesign are amazing, but the story they implemented could've easily not been in the game at all (I even liked "My dog got stolen and I want him back!" a bit more) and the puzzles are too random for my liking. It pains me, but I didn't enjoy any part of the game all too much.

I finished the main story at around 60 hours and then went to grind out all the achievements for another 40 hours, so I can say I've seen most of what the game has to offer. Overall I do recommend this game and had fun with it, otherwise I wouldn't have finished it the way I did.

Pros:
- there's a story
- the gameplay (gather ressources -> build things with your machines) is different than that from the other farming simulators I've played and seen so far
- the music and general artstyle is very pleasant
- the NPCs feel fleshed out and are very different from each other
- there are lots of different things to do [mine, farm, build, have animals, (play) dates with NPCs, deep dungeons, minigames, have a family]
- combat-focused main missions are easy, which is good since this is a farming sim after all
- other combat-focused content isn't as easy, which is good for people who want to do combat

Cons:
- after playing for around 40 hours, the game nearly crashed everytime I loaded it
- the game freezes before cutscenes, making it seem like it's going to crash
- the gameplay becomes a bit dull after around twenty hours as your machines take a lot of time to produce materials
- the mid-game (20-40 hours in for me) relies on your furnaces to burn a lot of the same ingots, by which point i mostly just skipped days by sleeping
- one of the NPCs vanishes at the end of the story, never to return and without any warning
- when assembling things you have to have the items equipped in your hotbar, i would've preferred if you could just have them in chests like for the worktable

Achievement-related cons:
- there's a missable achievement early-on in the game (but to be fair: it's not hard to replay the story and get it easily with a guide, takes around 3-5 hours)
- there are a lot of achievements related to dating only certain NPCs, some of the quests that need to be done for those are a bit tedious
- there is one NPC that is very hard to befriend (and date) as they get a lot less relationship points than others for receiving gifts and they can only be dated late at night
- there's a bugged achievement that's luck-based (slot machine)
- the Rock Paper Scissors achievement is very tedious as it is luck-based
