There is just so much to do in this game that I can't even put my thoughts in a consistent review. Don't let the low-poly asset flip look of things fool you, this is a great simcade driving game. The online communities are chill and helpful. There are many jobs, an economy, a variety of vehicles and upgrades, a large varied map, you can even buy property and decorate your home. While there are only 2 people working on things they are putting a lot of care into the game. With the way things are going AAA titles will be almost 100 bucks soon and I'd much rather spend that money on games like this that are being made with love.

If it wasn't for the matchmaking in this game it'd be fun playing. The matchmaking is the only real con in of this game. You either stomp the enemy team 2 or 3 times or get creamed 2 or 3 times. It rarely ever feels like a fair match. All part of their plan.

This is how you do a proper reboot. Right into the game you hear a remix of the "buy a car" song. That had me excited. Later on I ran into Jackknife on the C1 loop. That's when I knew this was a top tier remake. No online multiplayer focus, no micro transaction storefront, no ridiculous million dollar car sponsorship. You have to GRIND for your money and upgrades. The driving is not simulation quality. There's no game breaking bugs with a day one DLC sized patch. The game isn't 80 bucks. That's exactly what we wanted. It almost feels like someone at Genki heard about the hype around Nightrunners and said "they need us" and they delivered. There's no decent arcade racers anymore and they came back to fill the gap with another quality entry in the TXR series. Keep in mind it's only early access so there's so much more coming. Not to mention the fact the modding community will absolutely flood Nexus with great mods (or maybe even workshop). The game runs, it's easy to play, it's cheap, and it's fun. What more could you want from an arcade racer?
