As someone who backed this game when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I had lost hope that the devs would turn squad into a proper successor to PR mod for BF2. They have a very long way to go still, many systems still need to be completely reworked to bring the matches to the same quality of PR mod, however, this recent update is a good step in the right direction. Hopefully these changes aren't reverted, and the devs focus on continuing to make squad the teamplay oriented shooter it should have been 7 years ago.

Why get this game when the sequel exists?

In Killing Floor I have seen level 6 players get torn to shreds on hard because they thought they were hard and could go solo. No, the game was hard, they were soft as \ass .

In Killing Floor 2 I see players argue over which doorways they get to camp on hell on earth difficulty, and two gunslingers in a \ass\ match because they were in the same area and "stealing kills".

Killing Floor is a coop game that will force you to work together and actually pay attention to your teammates or it will beat you to death with a 15 inch black rubber \ass.

Killing Floor 2 is a game where you just happen to kill zombies near 5 other players who try to steal your precious kills. Oh yeah, hope you enjoy loot crates, goofy cosmetics, and an awful "vault dosh" skinner box.

Take your pick.

Honestly I did not know what to expect the minute I arrived on pandora for a second time, the beginning was good but a little weak, and horrendous connection problems put me at the 1 fps range when I connected to a friends game, if I could connect at all. But then I progressed in the game and the world began to open up to more exciting places, with more varied quests, and I began to get the sweet purple and orange loot so sought after in borderlands 1. Besides my inital misgivings this is turning out to be an amazing game, and don't even get me started on that amazing dam rescue. Relating to the missions like the aformentioned dam level, they start off like the "dungeon" crawls of the previous title but many of the story missions have set pieces that are quite remarkable. The most notable thing to me however is that much of the dialog is absolutely amazing and quite memorable, and npcs are fully voiced when they give you quests unlike the text of borderlands 1.
