I started playing this game about a month ago and it has turned into the biggest timewaster I have...

And I love it.

Mod support is absolutely top notch, and allows me to bling out my maps with maximum Britishness.

Just, buy the damned game already.

I took a real gamble pre-purchasing this DLC.

Honestly, everything feels pretty much spot on. The physics are about right for the two kettles, and there's plenty of room to get up to speed with.

Have you ever wondered what it's like on a steam locomotive at high speed? Try the Jubilee at 80-90mph. You're bouncing around a heck of a lot, just like how it'd be in real life. Both hammer blow and track conditions mean you're rolling around a lot at speed.

There's a good mixture of freight wagons for your freight moves as well. Plenty of yard space to shunt around in. Signals all look and work good. Steam particle effects even collide with most objects! (It's not perfect collision, but it definitely does the job)

The only real letdown is the lack of possibly one of the most important locomotives for this route, and that's a Black 5. Black 5s provide the intermediary between a Jub and an 8f. Not having one feels like a missed opportunity, and also screams loco addon down the road.

Fab stuff, more like this please.

I like this route. Unfortunately, it's bugged so you can only drive it in reality from Plymouth to Penzance, and not the other way as it crashes as soon as you pass Liskeard. On the flip side, the original Just Trains version works faultlessly.

And then they released another version of it on steam. So in essence they've asked you to pay twice.

Don't buy the other version, it's not worth it.

This was a chance for DTG to fix the fact they were reliant on the Kuju HST model... and it went badly...

Sounds are wrong (not that I expect them to be perfect with DTG), keyboard controls are a mess, and most importantly, the horn sticks. I just gave up trying to use it. It's sad that the ancient Kuju model is still a better product.

And if you want better sounds, there's others who have done them, and they all use the Kuju model. Dear oh dear.

NB: Don't tell me it's a VP185 engine. I've lived with those for my entire life, being someone on the Midland Main Line. It sounds nothing like that. It's definitely not the growl of an MTU either. Nor a scream from a Paxman Valenta with Marston Cooler.
