The more time you put into it, the better the game gets. Yes, the interface can be daunting at first, but seriously this is one of the greatest games of all time. Get DFHACK with it, it allows you to tame a ton of the....odd stuff.

My other friend incinerated Bing Bong, then fell to his death. 10/10
