Early Access Review
Really fun game to play and it's super nice that you can switch to playing on mobile as well (and Steam still logs your hours). However, the game length can be rather long, so unless you're playing against bots you need to consider how much time you have available. While there's definitely some RNG to this game, a lot of it is strategy based, and it takes a lot to completely dominate a game so no game is lost instantly.

Overall good fun and great for filling time.

Honestly, Town of Salem is a great game to play when you've got some spare time or just want to figuratively stab and set other people on fire, and the various game modes ensure no game is like the next. It follows the basics of pretty much all Mafia games - kill them before they kill you - and it certainly delivers on that. Despite there being some roles that provide little excitement when playing as them *cough* Survivor, most of the roles you can get are fun and challenging to play well, and the use of role-lists certainly helps when coming up with good deductions and fake claims (although being jailed night 1 as an evil role can be pretty annoying). Actually being semi-decent at this game does require some skill and there's nothing better than being part of a town who know's what they're doing, or a mafia who know who should be offed next in order to secure victory. As far as I can see, the current rolelists produce fairly split victories and despite what some others say I don't find the Town to be too OP in most situations (unless you have a sheriff with mad luck). There are tons of ways you can play each role, and you'll always be able to learn from others and their own strategies. The in-game currency can get annoying sometimes but lukcily most things can be bought with the silver coins, and there's something so satisfying about seeing your scroll work after trying about 20 times with no luck. The visuals are cute and the music is great and there is definitely some fun to be had with this game, especially when you can try it out for free online first.

The one big downside to this game is the community. Oh my god the community. AFK Godfathers and Jailors, throwing mafiosos, vigilantes who random shoot, outright trolls, the list just goes on and on. For some reason unknown to me one can generally avoid all this in ranked practice, because for some godforsaken reason they have been allowed to go onto ranked instead. I've given up on ranked season 2 just because almost every single game I've had has had someone who caused the game to be unenjoyabe, and most of the time, made our team lose the game. The only other downside is some people, when they get an evil role, choose to do the "I'm new what do I do?" tactic, which is frustrating when there are genuinely new players out there who need the help, and are instead being random lynched and hated upon because some troll has given them a bad image.

Despite the community issues, this game is definitely worth the 4 quid and most (but not ranked right now) gameplay is exciting and enjoyable and will provide you with hours of fun. Totally would waste another 200 hours of my life on this.
