Best Game!

First of all, I would like to point out that many people have already written an excellent review about this game. However, after finishing this one I really felt the urge to let you know how I experienced this wonderful game.

First Impression

Well, as far as the first impression (~1 hour playtime) is concerned, I have to admit that I was delighted by the “cartoonish” texture and the “emotional depth”. I only expected and heard the best from “Telltale Games” but they somehow managed to surprise me.

Storyline

So, now let´s talk about the story and the gameplay as such. Throughout the game you are playing as Lee, a convicted murderer. However, it might sound weird but I never felt any sort of hatred since the current problems (epidemic) are obviously far more important. As I already pointed out, you are Lee from now on and every following day might be your last one. The good thing though is that you aren´t alone. You are lucky enough to find Clementine, a girl aged 8 who lost her parents in Savannah. While Lee and Clementine stick together throughout the game some other “friends” you will make get lost or die, it´s all up to you. You don’t really have a final destination that’s why you are going to places where you expect to be safe.

Choices

“This games series adapts to the choices you make. The story is tailored by how you play.”

As you might have already figured out that choices are fairly important in the first season of “The Walking Dead”, I would like to spend some time on figuring out whether choices modify your game completely. Well, I guess “Yes” and “No” is probably the most appropriate answer. You can pick one out of four different answers/reactions, which is of course and enormous variety. On the other side it doesn´t really change much. Let me explain myself with the following example: You have to choose what to do. Do you want to save a person XY our will you leave him/her behind? You have two totally different things you can choose from. But the story which follows afterwards will be the same for 100 per cent. You could argue that your decision you made is in some way really emotional and tragic but it doesn’t really change the gameplay. (I hope that was understandable since English isn´t my mother tongue. :/)

Graphics

The texture used is really unique. It´s just typical for all the “Telltale”- games. You can like it or hate it. (Well I guess that wasn´t really helpful but the graphic standards are really high nowadays which means it´s up to your choice. Look at some screenshots and you will know what I mean.)

Playtime

Not only because of my lack of skill when it comes to Quicktime-Events (which occur regularly) but also some chapters I redid in order to figure out what would have happened if I had chosen something different it took me approximately 14.5 hours to finish this game.

Price

I bought the game during the last Winter Sale but I think buying it for full price is also completely acceptable.

Fantastic game for all type of gamers. I really recommend buying this game due to the emotional storyline and the wonderful graphics used.

I hope my review was somewhat helpful. As I already pointed out, English is not my mother tongue so please keep that in mind. If you can give me any good advice: JUST DO IT.
