I truthfully wasn't aware I had never reviewed this game. After stumbling across it on a "upcoming games" list way back in 2014, I got myself into the alpha of the game. Since 2014 I have followed the development of both The Forest and Endnight on their way to success. The Forest is the perfect survival game for those who dislike the hardcore grind of some. If you're looking for an atmospheric, easy to understand and a story with an impact, you're in the right place. I've gifted this game to more friends than another other piece of media I've ever consumed. 11/10 Looking forward to Sons of the Forest.

For the price and the love the devs put into the game, it's a very fun and solid experience! Highly recommend and it's 10/10 compared to Phasmophopia.

I haven't wrote a review for a game in a long time. This game will earn that pleasure. I was shown this game by a mutual friend shortly after the among us craze. The game was very fun with friends and I was optimistic with the development being on going. We awaited the launch of the game with excitement. We enjoyed the new map. Then the dreaded DLC attacked. The absolute slap in the face by the devs to add $10+ dlc for in-game items which CANNOT be earned was tone deaf to say the least. Maybe they've decided it's better to cater to their new market, but they've alienated their OG gamers. This game had potential and the devs in their own greed and stupidity have shafted their own creation. Not worth it in 2022 as I am writing this after they added the "Animal mask dlc" for $13 for 3 masks. What a shame.

Crowbar did a 11/10 job on this. I am looking forward to seeing what they can produce in the future. I only encountered maybe a few bugs throughout my playtime. Looking forward to a second play through!

Early Access Review
It's in Alpha so I cant write a full review on this game but as of right now its a very fun game. I havent even stepped off the coast and I have had more fun than I did from the mod. The shooting on site isnt as terrible due to the fact weapons are rare as hell and the zombies are updated to be a lot nicer. They're no longer jumpy and glitchy. The controls I feel could've been set up better and the extremely annoying "I am hungry" "I am getting thirsty" are really the main downsides I've seen. Servers are a bit messed up due to a bazillion people loading in all at once but that I'm guessing will be fixed. My FPS is around 20-30 in big cities and close to 50 everywhere else. As of right now I give the game a solid 8, many more changes will be added in the next few weeks and months and I will post an updated review later on.

*2023 Update.
Boy has this game changed. It actually is very nice to see the love and development that has gone into this game. Play community and you'll get the true Dayz experience. The game has its ups and downs, however with friends and the right server (highly rec Spaggies or DayOne) you'll see what the hype is about and how PUBG really spawned from the mod. I look forward to what the team has in the future and continue to support.

2025 Update.
I honestly have to say it's like watching a child grow or visiting an old friend after years. When I step away from this game and find myself returning, I'm always met with the same sense of excitment. This game holds a special place in my heart and I believe it always will. Seeing the devs actually take their time to build upon a game thought to be left back in 2013. As of last week, a new map was announced. As of today, more people play this game than at launch.
