I played Morrowind for the first time on the Microsoft Xbox. Looking back, I realize now the absolute monster this console was during its generation. To put things in perspective, this baby ran the top 3 PC games of its time (Doom 3, Half Life 2 and Morrowind respectively). It is in this setting that I fell in love with this game.

This was a massive game with an amount of content thas was unprecedented at the time. This was without a doubt the first time I fell truly free in a videogame.

My last COD game was MW2 (2008) and in my honest to earnest opinion, DMZ mode reinvented the wheel. Finallly, Activision found a way to get to the dude that just wants to level up and min/max gear in a sandbox full of quests. In a way it's like Lydia had a one night stand with Soap and their beautiful CHUD of a baby is WZ 2.0

Death Stranding has been one of the most defining gaming experience in my video game universe (joining Doom, TESIII: Morrowind and Bloodborne to name a few and for the readers to get a glimpse of where I come from).

Before reviewing Death Stranding one should understand it's historical context. When Kojima Productions secured a AAA game budget for their first project, it became free from the dogmatic gaming archetypes of AAA games. These dogmas are protected by third party gaming companies in order to guarantee profit above all else, sacrificing the potential of the production team by hindering their creative minds from the start.

In this game you are a "Porter" and your job is the delivery of items from point A to point B in the best condition possible, something that's easier said than done in the world of Death Stranding. It is a place of Inhospitable terrains, destructive weather and lingering ghosts the one that challenges the player during deliveries; this along with the dangers of human nature. Raiding groups patrol the world looking for lonely porters to rob and attack mercilessly. On the other hand, renegade terrorist cells have one and one goal only: Kill.

Character progression feels strong in this game. During the journey one comes across a wide variety of tools, vehicles and weapons at Sam's disposal. Moreover, items and structures made by other players in their game appear throughout the landscape, ultimately reminding the player that human aid is essential for rebuilding America.

An experience like none other in video games.
