Fond memories of skipping highschool classes to go to a friend's house to play this. That was nearly a decade and a half ago, so this game is very nostalgic to me.

The player vs player shmup gameplay is unique and something I think should be explored by other developers. Many different characters are available to play as, some of which are much more effective at destroying friendships than others. It turns out my friends don't enjoy having Reimu's balls repeatedly hitting them. I also get to play as Reisen in a game that's not called LoLK, which is also a plus.

The soundtrack is unique compared to other contemporary Touhou games. It has a more calm and subdued feel, with more piano based melodies where the romantic trumpet ZUN loves so much is used a little more sparingly. It has a dark, yet soothing feeling. I really love it.

I really hope that ZUN will one day make another game in the style of PoDD or PoFV. I would love to play a game of this style with more refined mechanics and characters from th10 - th18.

Also steam remote play works great if both players live in the same vicinity. Just please take note that the remote player is required to use keyboard controls while the host is required to use gamepad controls.

Been playing this series since the original North American PS2 release way back in 2004. Thank god this is better than World/Iceborne. Clutch claw single handily ruined that ♥♥♥♥. I personally enjoy it when a l*ngsword user joins my hunts and then carts twice instantly to MR Teostra. Really brings me back to the MH4U days of glaive users giving me the ol' "Pardon..." After fainting to g rank Teostra.

10/10 top 3 in the series for me. Right below 4u and Freedom Unite
