I don't know why they labeled this as a Torchlight game. Awful writing and even worse UI. Core game loop is ok though and I guess it could be fun on mobile.

Flawed but fun. The game seriously needs some rebalancing for solo players + more options / variety for survival games. It's really fun with friends but not worth a recommendation for solo players in its current state. Also, having to spend 5 mins smacking a giant isn't difficult or fun. They need to be less spongey and more mechanically interesting than what they are now.

Valheim introduces a lot of good mechanics to the survival genre that eliminate unnecessary hassle and allow you to focus on combat and base building. That said, the fact that some items can't be brought through a portal is one of the worst mechanics that I've seen. Arbitrarily blocking metals from being teleported serves no purpose but to intentionally slow the game. This mechanic doesn't really encourage or introduce interesting gameplay. It's such a transparently lazy restriction that it, at times, overshadows all the good in Valheim.

It's either a game that you'll hate or end up wasting 10 000 hours in. There's no happy medium.
